John Oliver's show on HBO (Last Week w/John Oliver, IIRC) is excellent. Unfortunately, I don't have HBO, so I've only seen a few episodes.

I just caught up to "The 100"

1st season was kind of a Lord of the Flies type of scenario...sticking with it as feels like a big build up for the end of this season.

A little teeny boppie, but I enjoy it as well. 2nd season is much better, in my opinion.

Strongly recommend the British sci-fi Black Mirror. Seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix; with each season having three episodes, 40-60 minutes in length. Each episode stands on its own storyline. The episodes "Fifteen Million Merits," "The Entire History of You," and "White Bear" were excellent.

The last episode of season two was rather sub-par.

I think I may have seen Back Mirror while visiting IL for the Holidays. Was there an episode where people had an implant behind one ear that recorded their life, maybe that was "The Entire History of You". If it's the same show you are talking about, that one episode was decent I thought. I probably should watch another before forming an opinion.

Yep! And that was definitely the episode you saw.

Good to see some activity on this thread, especially as we are in the golden age of TV.

I've read from several trusted reviewers that Hannibal is excellent. Finally took the plunge (halfway through season 2), and wholly concur. It is unbelievable to me that this show is on a broadcast network (NBC) and has survived despite poor ratings.

An US network has produced a version of the French series The Returned (similar to the Gracepoint knockoff of Broadchurch). If interested, do yourself a favor and watch the original. Excellent, haunting show.

Justified back on Tuesday. The Americans soon. The Fall season 2 on Netflix. Great stuff.

Mads Mikkelsen is an incredible actor. Haven't seen any of Hannibal yet, but his film work is brilliant (check out The Hunt on Netflix).

Very excited for Justified. Another great show that is coming to a close.

I just started Sherlock today. All three seasons will be removed from Netflix February 1st. Netflix wasn't able to include Sherlock in their contract negotiations with BBC.

After the first two episodes it looks like Banshee is off to another good start.

The Hunt is an excellent movie, Mads is a great actor.

I saw that someone mentioned The Fall, I enjoyed that and I see Season 2 is now on NetFlix.

Has anyone watched Ripper Street? It's another BBC show.

I just watched last night's episode. The fight between Nola and Burton was insane.

Amazing how he could get hit with a tomahawk about twenty times and no vital organs were injured. ;) that whole episode was the craziest of the whole series so far imo.

They killed off the wrong character. Plus, there's not enough nudity (naked chicks, don't want anyone to get the wrong idear) in the show.

Bringing "Russell Edgington" (the governor of Mississippi) onto the show is a big plus.

The last season of Justified got off to a great start last week. Glad to see they're taking Boyd into a very dark place. I can also say that I'm happy with what happened to another character, that was several seasons overdue and would have eliminated some of the baggage in Season 5.

Completely agree about said other character.

Isn't Walton Goggins a joy to watch?

Excited for episode 2 tomorrow night!

Venus Van Dam is da man!

Goggins killed it on The Shield too. Another great show. The best dirty cops show ever.

Is "Game of Thrones" a polarizing show amongst its viewers? At least initially? I'm 4 episodes into season 1 and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. Granted, there's only so much information that can be packed into 4 episodes from this massive Martin world, but I'm waiting for that moment to hook me (I will admit that the final scene in the first episode was pretty great).

Just keep watching. Those first couple episodes there is a lot of boring back story and stuff and then it picks up more. Just sit back, (pay attention to everything) and enjoy. There is even a thread on here about one particular episode that was so traumatizing it needed it. Keep watching, you wont regret it. I am in the process of re watching season 4 right now. I have watched every episode at least twice.

You guys don't like Dewey Crow? He has been a part of the show since the beginning. Smuggling Vicodin up from the Florida pill factories on a church bus through the backwoods of the south. He's had some good story lines, and what would last season be without his kin coming up from the swamps of Florida's Everglades to be part of the family business? I can't wait for tonight's episode.

Shield is one of my all time favorites, and it's my impression on how cops operate in major cities with organized gangs/crime. I never had heard about the El Salvadorian gangs, but the show depicted them pretty good after I watched episodes about them in gangland.

IMHO last season would have been a lot better without the Crowe storyline. Michael Rappaport's accent was so bad it was nearly unwatchable for me. I honestly don't think they would have done that whole bit if Elmore were still living.
