BU just said on the post-game radio he had an ankle injury earlier in the week and only practiced once with the team. Is that why he didn’t go back in? Idk.

People here will strongly prefer to make it a case of insubordination. I mean after all Brad was yelling at him when he came out and then he sat down and that’s so unique.

Again, we obviously had more issues than bad calls, but NOBODY can convince me that that horrible call near the end wasn't deliberate. It's basically a home game for UConn, it's in freakin' NYC(home of the mob), and UConn covering the spread was literally on the line with what the call was going to be. "Joey Numbers" - bookie/enforcer for the mob - got the message to the refs saying, "If you take those points back and that spread ends up not covered, you'll be at the bottom of the Hudson before midnight." Yup. That's what happened alright.

We just jack long distance slop from dudes that should be in the paint dominating.
Emphasis on long distance. Set up in the gd college line, not three feet beyond the pro line.

I have harped on this for years now, but I hate the constant massive turnover on our roster. You can't throw guys on the floor and say go beat a top 10 team, especially when we back down every time the NIL price on a guy gets too high and then say oh we're more clever than that, this guy is a better value. Well Joe Flacco has been a great value in the NFL this year, I'll take Joe Burrow.

Mirkovic is a step too slow. He is going to have to learn how to play against top competition. Petrovic does some great things and some terrible things on the court. He needs to learn how to go fast and stay in control. Wagler is still learning to play against big time talent. You're not going to mimic top 25 teams with your B team or walkons in practice.

We talk about every day guys, but who is leading that culture on the roster besides Boswell? The beginning of this game was pretty weak. We were majorly out hustled against Alabama too. You can't just say oh he's an EDG. You've got to prove it on the court.

We have great size and we don't use it at all. It's another Illini season of jacking 3s. If we hit them, we can beat anyone. If we don't, we get this.

People keep saying that Jake Davis and Ben shouldn’t play over Mirk and Andrej but it’s because they can defend in his system. I’m not saying for them to play zone because it’s the better scheme, I’m saying it’s a better fit for this roster and it’s not close. If you give up threes in a zone that’s fine but better to do it that way and not tear up your teams energy levels chasing smaller guards and running around screens. We got killed by the three today, so it didn’t even matter to get killed by our defensive scheme or zone but our team was tired out from chasing faster guards and that has shown to be a problem so far this year.

My issue with this team is the roster construction. They needed a true big to replace Morez. And they needed some athleticism. They got some good parts but most of these guys are slow and terrible defenders. And you didn't get anybody to play down low (althought Z was much better today with 4 blocks.)
Exactly what a few of us were saying this offseason. Just a lot of duplicative players. Same weaknesses.

Not inspired by what I saw today but coming into the non-con Tennessee was the game I had my eye on. If we pull that out then we are still right on track imo with plenty of room for improvement. Team showed a bit of heart to buckle down and claw back but dug themselves way too deep of a hole. Tomi not progressing since Bama is very concerning. Not saying he should be 100% but his mental are lacking as much as physicals at this point. This team cannot put it together unless they get the best version of him.

Good but not great characterizes both our football and basketball programs. Sure- we are better in both compared to some previous coaching regimes, especially the football program but it is infuriating to compare our football program to Indiana and the basketball program to Michigan right now. Both have second year coaches that have truly elite teams that can win it all. I know the argument is how low we've been at times in both before BB and BU came aboard but are we supposed to settle for just good but never great? It's sure hard to be an Illini fan when we keep getting embarrades in these marqui nationally televised matchups.

Yep. It seems most of them. I gave up Twitter 5 months ago because the toxicity just kept getting worse. I thought there would be more reasoned takes and people here. Silly me.

And the constant turnover forces us to be very basic offensively. Our offensive game plan has no depth to it and is consistently shut down by good teams when we go 6/30 from deep. We have no other answers

I understand the sentiment but the truth is we played better in that stretch than any other stretch in the game. Outside of a mind-boggling official review, we had a chance to cut it to a 2 possession game. Those guys weren’t the problem at all. Petro on the other hand, I would agree with.

We are uber talented and I expect Tomi to get better / effort should be correctable but sometimes Brad is like the older sales guy riding things out.. established book of business (20+wins etc) and nice referrals (recruiting)… but is he willing to dig really deep and have his hair on fire for 40 minutes? Thought solo ball could’ve had four fouls on Boswell in the first five minutes and not a peep from Brad
