Agreed. This loss isn't the end of the world, but after seeing how well they played Wednesday against a better team, it's frustrating to see how flat they looked today. If the Illini had come out swinging, I'd feel better about today. Even so, the overreactions here are on another level today, even for Loyalty.

I look at it as we are back to -1 on games we should win but lose, vs should lose but win.

NW- loss
Oregon- win
USC- loss

The rest of the games have played out about as expected

A couple of positives:

1. Ben had some nice booty ball baskets and also grabbed 5 rebounds, to go along with 3-8 from 3. Good to see.

2. Will seemed focused on slowing down and simplifying the game. Had 3 nice takes where he took his time and put it in. Think he’s very close to breaking out.

Let’s get Kasparas back and healthy and see what we can do.

1) You could be right with your predictions...there are some things that could crop up come tourney time that could cost them. But outside of 1-2 teams, that's true about everybody. And you failed to mention that this team has a legit shot to win it all. So I don't think your post is the flex you thought it was.

2) Can we please stop with Ty Rodgers stuff? He sat out for his own reasons and that's totally fine. It's crazy to think that he would have solved the issues. Today if KJ was in there, you wouldn't even be talking about this.

Just so much uncharacteristic scheming on both offense and defense that contributed to the lost today. Guess the next practice should be a old school Underwood practice to wake these guys up.

Here's my copium for today. We're still one win better than I thought we'd be at this point in the season. (Although, I didn't expect a Q3 home loss.)

Progress isn't always linear and setbacks happen.

We earned a 3 seed last year after a Q3 loss, as did Kentucky. And Arizona even got a 2 seed with a Q3 loss on their resume.

A lot of basketball and all our goals still in front of us.

Depends. Marquette and Iowa State were the weakest 2s. Marquette already had the H2H with us so unlikely we jump them even with a Maryland win. Iowa State could have jumped but still in the UConn bracket

Derek Piper just said KJ was playing 5-on-5 yesterday. Not a fan of holding him out the whole game. He could’ve steadied us in the second half at least playing fewer minutes.

Not to pick on you, but losing at home shouldn't be an option to either of those teams.

We lose on the road to a meh Northwestern team and go, "Ah, well life in the B1G is hard."

Then we let a meh USC team (which had just lost to an okay, but up-and-down, Indiana team on the road by 13) come in and punk us.

Can't have it both ways.

Bad loss. Hopefully this sparks USC and they catch fire for the rest of the season so it ends up looking better, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that.

As soon as we saw we weren’t playing well, KJ should have been in.

This. We should never lose at home. Never. In the early 2000s, we had a better home record than Duke. Teams knew it and were intimidated. We need to get back to opponents being afraid when they visit SFC.
