What Abdur-Rahim did in his first season in Tampa was nothing short of impressive. Prior to his arrival, they had never finished above .500 in the AAC and had only had one season above .500 since 2012. They were also ranked in the AP top 25 for the first time in school history late in the regular season last season. Abdur-Rahim was a longtime assistant who helped Georgia sign Anthony Edwards when Abdur-Rahim was part of Tom Crean's staff in Athens.

This was really sad to see. He was one of the rising up and coming younger coaches in this profession who was destined for good things. It's also very sad given how young he was. I'm several years younger but makes you take a step back and recognize that life isn't given and that anything can happen no matter if you're 20, 40, or 80 yrs old. I hope it is later revealed what kind of a procedure he was dealing with to help put potential spotlight on what led to his passing and find ways to prevent that from happening to others(if there was any potential prevention)
