What most people don't realize is that every "winning" coach has had a superlative QB.I was a Brady hater for years saying he was a system QB, etc. When he went and won a super bowl with Tampa Bay and Belichick continued to flop in those years, it became pretty apparent, I was WRONG all those years... Brady WAS the Patriots dynasty, Belichick was lucky to be there for the ride imo.
Ditka? What most people don't realize is that every "winning" coach has had a superlative QB.
Andy Reid - Mahomes
Chuck Noll - Terry Bradshaw
Vince Lombardi - Bart Starr
Bill Walsh - Joe Montana
George Seifert - Steve Young
Tom Landry - Roger Staubach
Buddy Ryan - Randall Cunningham
Tom Flores - Jim Plunkett
John Madden - Kenny Stabler
Mike Marta - Kurt Warner
Mike Holmgren - Bret Favre
Tony Dungy - Peyton Manning
Sean Payton - Drew Brees
Don Shula - Johnny Unitas, Dan Marino
It's not very often that a coach is successful even in the short term without a stud QB.
As a Seattleite whose casual team to follow when Illinois isn’t playing is UW … let’s just say we’re really hating every terrible moment of Karma DeTraitor’s fall from the heights he rode Penix — and Chris Petersen’s recruits — to here.As an Alabama fan who also loves Illinois, this was a brutal weekend. Watching Alabama Saturday night was truly painful. Been a fan since the late 70's and cannot believe how bad they looked. Soft, unprepared, unenthusiastic. It was pretty disgusting to watch. I actually remember watching the last time Bama lost their first game of the season back in 2001 to UCLA. Felt like season was over after that game. Pretty much think the same thing now.
And DeBoer can go away. As soon as possible is ok with me. Realize won't happen until the end of the year. He is now 6-4 against unranked teams. Saban was 124-4 in 17 seasons against unranked teams. Let that soak in.
had an awesome year from McMahon the year they won itDitka?

Ditka is kinda an outlier - he won with a great team and a QB that was more of a game manager than a great QB. I wouldn't put McMahon in the same class as a Brady, Montana, Bress, Manning, etc. But as the list is a little subjective, I'll allow it.Ditka?
