Week 10 Polls - Illinois #14 in AP Poll

Guessing we pass Utah and jump up to #12 in this week's new AP poll. That will put us just behind most of the other 1-loss Power 5 teams. And I would guess the pool of 4 CFP teams will come from this group of 15. (Some might even argue, from just the top 12.) My prognostication here.....

I agree šŸ’Æ. Sad thing is the Pac12 is absolutely awful and standing in our way. But we control our own destiny now, 1 game at a time.

I won't gripe yet, due to the fact the pac12 teams start playing each other the next 4 games. Kst. jumping us, šŸ˜¢
They get Texas tech and Texas. I want us in top 10 heading to Michigan and them being #4..

We are sitting pretty, with 2 home games. If we hold our home field, and go 9-1, I imagine we will be no worse than #10 going into Ann Arbor.

Just curious what you all think....if we were 8-0, having held onto the W vs. IU on the road, everything else remaining the same up to this point, where would you guess we would be ranked? My guess is #12....I don't think we leap frog some of those traditionally solid programs with 1-loss.

I was in school from '91-'95 and we had some pretty good defenses back then, but not the whole package. This Illini team is so well-rounded. Leadership, coaching, good QB, obviously great RBs and good receivers, good O and D lines, good special teams, and an Elite Defense overall. If I'm being honest, I would not bet money that we will beat Michigan or Ohio State. But man we are going to be a tough out for them. There will be no room for error with turnovers or dumb penalties. When we went into Columbus in 2007, who thought we would win? I knew that we would be a tough out, but any opponent can be beaten on any given day with a team like ours. I'm not saying we are better than Michigan or Ohio State, but maybe we beat each of them 2 out of 10 times. I will take those odds. I'm all in with this team, and having trouble focusing on anything else LOL.

I would agree that OSU and Michigan probably has more talent at most positions, but this Illini D is one of the best that I've seen here at Illinois in many many years.....we've dominated defensively most teams we've played...not sure we'll dominate OSU or Mich defensively....but we'll play well enough to hang around....and with our defense anything can happen
