College Gameday heading to Austin next weekend for TCU-Texas.
I continue t have no interest in the CFP whatsoever. Redundant annual club meeting. Now that we are officially knocked out of the CFP, I'm rooting for a Georgia, tOSU, Michigan, Tennessee playoff.
I think those are the only teams with a decent chance against each other. TCU is having a good year, but would get whooped by Georgia. Same with any of the Pac-12 schools. And I know Tennessee got man-handled but it was in Athens in rainy nasty weather. Put the game in a dome and fill over half the stadium with Vol fans and it's a different story IMO.
So with that being said, I'm rooting for Washington to upset Oregon and Texas to beat TCU.
Also, obvious caveat...100% rooting for us to upset tOSU or Michigan.
In the mid eighties Illinois hosted Nebraska and were losing 14-0 after the first two kickoffs. If I’m remembering right Nebraska returned the opening kick for a td and Illinois fumbled the ensuing kickoff and that was returned for a td. I think the final was like 56-14.Today in the Pitt/UVA game, UVA received the opening kickoff. On the very first play, the UVA QB that we thrashed earlier threw a pass on first down and it was intercepted for a pick 6. Then, on the ensuing kickoff, he threw another pass on first down that was also intercepted for a pick 6. 15 seconds into the game and UVA is down 14 - zip. The 1st qtr ended 28 - zip and the game ended 35 - 7. I don't think I have ever seen a game beginning like that. Not even an Illinois game.
Witnessed that one live. 59-14 and it wasn't as close as the final score. 12 seconds in, Illinois pass intercepted for a pick 6. Two minutes later 6 yd TD run by Nebraska, 14-0. Quarter ended 28-0. Long day, one of many. However, attendance for that one? Just under 76k. Yes, look it up.In the mid eighties Illinois hosted Nebraska and were losing 14-0 after the first two kickoffs. Have to admit I had to go back and look up the box score online. I knew it was something similarly bad as you described.Wow my recollection of that was way off
