Championship Weekend begins tonight with the CUSA and Pac-12 Championship games. Dan has already posted about the Pac-12 Championship.

Western Kentucky plays at UTSA in the CUSA Championship tonight at 6:00 PM CT with the game airing on CBS Sports Network.

UTSA defeats Western Kentucky 49-41 in the CUSA Championship. Roadrunners finish 12-1 in the regular season and win their first Conference USA championship, only having joined the conference in 2011. Roadrunners likely heading to the New Orleans Bowl.

Heck, they've only had a football program for 10 years, let alone join a conference.

The unacknowledged tragedy today is that Georgia doesn't need to win to get in.

Termites in the foundation of the sport. Imagine the drama if Bama could steal their spot against Cincinnati with a win. Or Michigan, whatever.

I still say the playoff should be between the conference champions of the P5. Sorry ND (join the ACC all the way). Sorry mid-majors.

Either rank them and take the top 4 champs or do a play in game between #4 and #5. Make the conference championships mean something again.

Georgia, Alabama, Cincy. If Michigan wins, they are in. If they lose ND. Should be short CFP meeting. Since they won't have Georgia and Alabama play again in the first round, will be Alabama 1 if they win, Cincy Georgia 2-3 (order doesn't matter) and then Michigan or ND.

I'm not sure how you have Michigan going from #2 to #4.

Yay, a Georgia vs Alabama rematch in the championship. šŸ™„ (My pessimistic side kicking in)

My conspiracy theory side has lit up with the idea that Georgia deliberately lost that game to ensure 2 SEC teams in the playoffs. Crazy I knowā€¦

But in the SECā€™s quest to dominate everything college footballā€¦I wouldnā€™t be surprised if it were actually true.

Boy, who do you root for when you absolutely detest both teams? I guess I go with who I want to fail more. So go (?) Iowa (?)

It will be interesting to see where Georgia gets ranked. If ahead of Cincinnati as #3 so that Alabama and Georgia donā€™t play in the semi then Iā€™m on board with your conspiracy theory.

Man the way Georgia is playing...can they be left out for putting up a stinker?
With the two playoff games being the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl, if Bama is ranked #1, they'll likely go with Cotton Bowl as where they want to play the semifinal.

My bad, forgot they were already 2 but can see Alabama going to 1, Georgia 3 so no rematch

ā€˜Looked at the stats from the SEC championship game. The ā€œgreatā€ Georgia defense gave up 540 yards to Alabama and their questionable O line. ā€˜Sure feels like they laid down. Maybe they didnā€™t but the committee should make them play Alabama in the semi to be sure. Iā€™m tired of seeing the SEC dominate the CFP. Theyā€™re taking over the NCAAF!
