Well, it all depends on how they view the South Carolina/Virginia Tech game. We can agree that FSU will pass us. Nama will fall below us. We have yet to get the National respect yet. I think you are right, logically, but we are dealing with people who throw logic ointment the window when they vote.

Florida State still has to prove they can win against someone besides a cupcake like Alabama.
I agree but every prediction about this weeks poll has FSU in the top 10. Remember, these people feed off of emotion. On paper, beating Bama looks good but as you rightly said, Bama is not very good. I would love us to be top 10 but we aren’t eve candy enough to push forward, yet. Beat Duke in Durham and people will look at us differently. Personally, I hope we stay 12th or even 13th as it will give us more bulletin board material that Bret can use.

Jumping from unranked into the top 10 over one game is an unusual anomaly. For it to even be a possibility you'd likely have to be the first or second team left off in the "others receiving votes" (which also doesn't apply to FSU). Georgia Tech beat #10 FSU last year week 1... they were #23 the following week. Northern Illinois wasn't even ranked for winning @ND week 2.

#11 seems likeliest, and wouldn't completely rule out jumping into the top 10 (although unlikely).

We’re the only ones who remember who we played in our bowl game last year. Your average AP voter barely pays attention to who played who this past week.
I think that game in particular (and Michigan-Alabama, along with the playoff games) were particularly memorable overall. Whether they affect AP or coaches voting is a separate question.

When do new rankings drop for football? Totally not used to looking forward to those coming out.
