His behavior after the play could genuinely impact the rules of football.

A lot of people are pointing out how that feet first QB slide right in front of a defender puts themselves in severe risk and is very challenging for the defender to avoid targeting. And critically, even non-targeting contact is very dangerous in that situation since the impact that concusses Moore is not the hit but his head snapping back and hitting the ground, which is what happens there even if there's just legal arm-to-chest contact.

But the USC player acted like such a buffoon afterward that any consideration of the difficulties defenders face in that situation is going nowhere.

It this was us, any of the guys that saw the play and gave him a five should be sitting out a quarter. Or more, I don't know. Doesn't matter if it's not the absolute worst hit ever. The behavior is sickening.

One game. Not that any of us should be surprised at that level of “self-punishment”, but hopefully the conference decides to send a stronger message.
