Week 5 Games

Northwestern channeling their inner service academy except they're not even running anything except the dive. I really don't understand why Penn State can't stop this.

Penn St going thru a painful transition year from one coach to another. Let's see what they look like next season.

The same people who constantly criticized James Franklin for never winning big games now say he should have never been fired

I agree he needed to be let go.

I’m old enuf to have grow up in the 1970’s hearing REO playing in the dorms all the time .

but they never achieved multi generational status like some bands

a song by Dave Matthews , CSN& Y , Dylan , The Doors or some hardcore metal band fits .

you want an Illinois connection? Jim Peterik has more than a few songs with The Ides or 38 special that work
Make it a fun song… something the fans can really get into. I suggest Love Shack. Imagine 60k people shouting “TIN ROOF! RUSTED!”

I toured NW’s new Ryan Field before the game last night. It is certainly worthy of all the praise it has received. Yes, very modern and intimate feel, great student section, theming, fan amenities, food, etc.

Favorite detail: All corporate advertisements are black, purple or white. Even the Coke advertisement behind the end zone is in black-and-white. No school color clashing adverts/branding like Gies or SFC.

Two least favorite (minor) details:

1. The marching band sort of disappears and isn’t a prominent fan experience compared to the NFL style lights and music, taking away the college atmosphere just a bit.
2. Who donates a stadium and then builds a statue of himself in front of it? A billionaire Pat Ryan statue is so cringe.

According to this setlist site, Brian Setzer closed his Farm Aid set with "Rock this Town." That's a pretty cool one, with the "You look at me once/you look at me twice/you look at me again and there's a-gonna be a fight..." and all.

I think it was raining hard during his set but he just said "he'll with it" and kept playing risking electrical shocks. At least that's my old guy memory.
