Week 9 Games

The end of that game was...off. A lot of questionable decisions especially the clock management of IU. That said, what an entertaining game. Has there ever been back to back 60 yarders to tie up a game?
doubt it
it wasn’t that long ago that 50 yarders were rare

I'd love to keep blaming the CFP's mask-off screwjob of their undefeated team for Norvell's struggles, but that was four years ago now.

They can't possibly consider Deion can they?
I can't imagine that this this would even be a consideration for more than 5 seconds. They'd have to spit out their drinks before saying no. After his kid and Hunter bailed, what has been done to even remotely deserve a higher profile job? If he didn't have the name, he would have been fired already. Colorado is awful.

Deion, if he wants to continue coaching will fall back to a mid major or lower. Colorado has to pull the trigger even though it’s a 25 million dollar buyout. He is 18-26 over his 4 years overall and 10-22 in conference. Colorado needs a new coach.

They went from a league where they were the at worst 3rd biggest program with OK and TX to a league where they were at best 4th behind OSU UM and PSU. And since 2000 you could argue IA and WI. Then the league added OR and USC so Nebby fell further into the muck in the middle tier
They’d kill to be 4th best in the league, even 7th best, heck even 9th best.

Here’s their record in the B1G over the past 10 years:

3-6
3-6
3-6
3-5
1-8
3-6
3-6
3-6
4-5
2-3

Here’s our B1G record since Bret’s arrived for comparison:

4-5
5-4
3-6
6-3
5-4
3-2

Nebraska hasn’t finished higher than Illinois in the standings since Bret’s arrived, so add us to list of programs ahead of them in the pecking order.

There was an attention=NIL=attraction to the Big Two factor there a year or two ago, but I agree, he just hasn't shown himself to be a coach who can handle a program of that scope, and while he's a legendary figure who can sell FSU better than anyone, that's getting less important in the new college football, not more.

Cignetti is the new meta

Crazier is that none of their coaches post Pelini have had winning conference records.

I remember their AD stating that the firing was not because of not winning enough but not winning the big game. That may go down as one of the worst soundbites in the history of the game.

That program seems cursed, and yet they still pack the stands week in and out. That is true dedication.

Nebraska firing Frank Solich to hire Bill Callahan and transition to an NFL-style West Coast offense right at the dawn of spread-option football taking the college game by storm is one of the greatest examples of short-sighted trend-chasing decision making with no respect for institutional practice and culture you will ever find, and not just in sports, they should put that in business school textbooks.

Ask opposing fans in the old Big 8/12 what they think of Neb. Tom Osborne is their version of JoePa (PEDs, etc. instead of Pedo). That entitled fandom persists and is what has brought them to this mediocrity, a belief in their natural football superiority that they deserve better that Pelini-level results. They're UMich (w/o the academics) on the prairie with smiling condescension to their little brothers in the conference. And when reality crashes in they throw tantrums.

Their biggest mistake was joining the B1G, and then subsequently firing Pelini. The curse of that firing continues to this day.

This has the potential of being ten straight seasons with a losing conference record. Cant sit well with Nebraska fans/alumns/donors.
The curse was when they fired Frank Solich.

My comment was more based on historical presence over say the last 20 years. But yes recently they are lower top half at best in league.

Halloween falling on a Saturday is a unique(ish) occurrence of course, but there is a lot of chatter online today about how bad the attendance was all across the country this weekend, and not just for struggling teams.
