It is crazy how far Vanderbilt fell in most metrics after losing to Texas. My first thought there was that there just wasn't a lot of separation between 5th - 9th or so... but they dropped more than 2 total points on KP in a single game which seems like it would be difficult to do at this point in the season (17ish games in).

Same way I feel about getting a second degree from Maryland. For that degree, the best professor I had got his doctorate from The University of Illinois.

it's almost like this guy's will say anything to have Illinois fans watch their channel.... weird right..hmmmmm
I mostly agree and I take them with a grain of salt. However, I do think Greg genuinely likes Illinois basketball and Brad. Now, part of the reason may be that he likes the drama and the plot twists, but he really does enjoy the team.

Yea, 2 points is a pretty shocking drop... I think it's 2 factors:

1) due to having 0.97 points per possession against a bubble Texas team and

2) due to past opponents also dropping. KP calculates based on SOS, and is consistently updating as the sample size grows. If teams that they beat closely began falling apart, it can affect their "resume" as well. If you look back at their past 5 before Texas, LSU has lost 4 in a row, Bama has lost 2 of 3, South Carolina has lost 3 or 4, Lipscomb has lost 6 of 8, Wake Forest has lost 5 of 6... Obviously W/L doesn't matter for KP but if these teams are all "performing" worse than expected then it's going to have an effect on Vandy's overall rating.

It's probably more the former than the latter, but that's how you drop that much through 1 week.

Illinois dropped to 6 on Torvik overnight because they were neck and neck with Purdue and opponent adjustments were enough to flip flop them.

Is Torvik that insightful? I mean, they had Alabama #1 the year Baylor won it all. And Baylor was 12th.
Huh?

Lunardi (yeah, I know...) has Illinois as 3 seed in the Midwest/Chicago region facing Wright St, opposite the winner of a North Carolina/Miami OH matchup. Iowa St is the 2 seed and Michigan is the 1 seed on the other side.

Seems like a potentially difficult spot to me. Lets keep winning and get into the 1/2 convo.

.....I just realized there's St. Louis, Chicago and Indy as sites for the three weekends this year.

Last time Iowa State was the 2 seed when ILL was the 3 seed worked out pretty well lol

Why would you not just give 5 teams a bye and have 6/11, 7/10, and 8/9 to end up with a standard 8 team quarterfinal?

I can't even follow what that bracket is actually doing!
After the 5-game "first round" (which is actually the second round), the winners are re-seeded, and the 2 lowest remaining seeds play each other in the "second round", leaving 4 teams for the semifinals, where those winners play for the championship.

I actually would like that. we should shut down Iowa State on offense and our offense will do enough to win. we match up against Michigan well and already beat Texas tech
