Morez just had the game of his life: 28m 17/12/2. 4/4 from 2, 1/2 from 3 and 6/7 FT, 0 turnovers, 0 fouls.

We were the better team without two of our best players.

They shot 20+ FTs we shoot like 5?

Couldn't buy a basket even with open looks
Taking deep contested 3s and not effectively driving leads to less FTs.

Nebby only had 8 FTs against IL. The difference was Sandfort was on a wild !!! heater going 11/13 in the first half in C-U.

Rutgers couldn't score in overtime. They had chances but whiffed.

ive gotta disagree on the exposure aspect

they went into #3 michigan without 1/3 of their scoring (2nd and 3rd best scorers, mast and frager out), and had a horrible shooting half and still damn near won

If this was a bad team they played, maybe
Definitely not a bad performance in totality. Actually a very good performance. They led for the overwhelming majority -- which literally leads me to my point.

What are they in a close game? What are the ways they could beat you? The answer is contested threes. If you look back at that game, almost every shot they took was a low percentage three. If they make them they'll win, if they miss they'll lose. It was the same thing in the game against us -- they just made them at a 46% clip and tonight they missed legitimately all of them.

In contrast if you look back at our game against Purdue, we generate high percentage looks playing off of what the defense allows. You give Keaton a switch on Cluff -- sure we'll go right at the mismatch. Now wanna put two on the ball? Swing, swing wide open threes for Mirk, Tomi, Jake, etc.

It would be a shame if a few others on the team got it. So long as no one is contagious this weekend.

Uconn on upset alert?

Lmao every single one of those went in against us.

IMO Nebby got exposed. If you get them in a close game, and they aren’t making contested threes at an absurd clip, they’ll lose.
in fairness they are missing 2 starters and looked absolutely gassed. I honestly think this said more about Michigan. keep spreading them out and that defense is no longer unstoppable. their offense is streaky just need to pressure those 3 point shots. they will also turn the ball over

No joke. Players were dead at the end

Illinois can beat both Nebraska and Michigan.
Agreed. We keep getting better, and I think we're largely a different team than the one that lost to UConn and Bama, and probably also meaningfully better than when we lost to Nebraska.

Of course, other teams get to improve, too, and we need to learn consistency.
