Please allow me to introduce you to the Michigan Wolverines. They are worthy of your hatred year in and year out.I don't find myself long term hating any particular team in the B1G.
It kind of depends on the year for me.

On one hand, the line of thinking with not fouling up 3 is worst case you end up in OT, where if you do foul it opens up a bunch of scenarios where you lose in regulation.why didn't Rutger foul Mich. State with 3 pt lead and seconds left on the clock? what a screw up
It's not conference games, but this was a pretty enjoyable 3-game string of tournament exits, as a huge favorite in each.when was the last time Painter lost 3 conference games in a row ?
It's just a flesh woundOld man yelling at cloud here... my take on Purdue's struggles having watched 5+ decades of basketball:
Big Tenning in late Jan and Feb is hard. For everyone. It's a grind. Purdue will likely sort itself out. Quickly. We Illini fans know what hitting a Jan or Feb skid (for a variety of reasons) feels like. Michigan blew chunks in mid-to-late Feb last year (I sat in Crisler and watched the Illini eviscerate them on March 2nd), then won the BTT and made it to the Sweet Sixteen.
People seem to forget that the path up the mountain through the conference slate always means fighting off hungry bobcats at the tree line. If you have the flu at the time you'll lose a limb.
It's not an evolution, you're all just not old enough to know what they've always been like.I'm also in this age demo so my "hated" B10 teams have historically been Indiana, Iowa and Michigan. But recent experiences with Purdue fans -- most recently at the game Saturday -- have elevated Purdue FANS to the top of my hated list. I like Matt Painter a lot, respect the hell out of Braden Smith and what they've accomplished in recent years, but the Purdue fanbase (at least in basketball) has evolved into an obnoxious and miserable bunch.
Well since Michigan hasn’t played Purdue, I’d guess not. My post wasn’t about me wanting Morez to still be here. He made his choice and I’m fine with it. Just stats I found interesting given his FT troubles with Illini as well as those who said he shouldn’t or couldn’t shoot 3s. Also, I miss spoke. Stats I pulled didn’t include last night’s game. He is actually shooting 79.2% from the line and 41.7% from 3 (5 of 12).Did he hit a massive corner 3 in Mackey to go up 4 though?

I hate the other 17 B$G teams with a passion.............some of those 17 teams carry more hate than others definitely..........
lol; a well-informed MIL you have there. It's not an evolution, you're all just not old enough to know what they've always been like.
My Purdue-grad M-I-L texted me before the game to see if I was watching live or on delay, so she'd know when to 'send her regrets'. Her words, not mine.
Post-game, the only text I got was 'who's this Wagler guy?'.![]()
That postgame session was a 1000% more professional than the one after we beat them. That was flat out embarrassing, especially TKR. Painter is a class act and I'm sure he saw that and corrected the attitude. Smith usually gives well thought out responses to tough questions. Painter is probably the best in the conference at it. He gives credit where it's due, throws in some analysis and the reporters leave with material. The others....useless.I’m sorry, you don’t hate Purdue?
Also TKR seems like such a sucker
What is wrong with TKR? His body language is terrible. Hating life. His dreams of an NBA career have been crushed?I don't even hate Purdue but I'm hooked on watching their players speak after losses-
I was born in 92, so they aren’t in my top 3 like you said but I still hate themIMO, “hating Purdue” is most common among fans over 45 or under 30. If you are like me and your fandom began during the early 2000s, you never grew up to hate Purdue. MSU and Wisconsin were always our competition at the top of the league, and Purdue was actually really bad. Plus, when the Indiana rivalry hit its height, Purdue seemed like a case of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Add in Weber’s fondness of and connection to Purdue, and they just weren’t on the hate radar.
I’ve definitely developed more of a dislike for them since 2020 and I feel their fans are infinitely more obnoxious than they ever were in past decades, but … for me, it will never approach Indiana/Iowa/Missouri levels.
The University of Maryland says "hello" and "we're an evergreen object of contempt."I don't find myself long term hating any particular team in the B1G.
It kind of depends on the year for me.
I really enjoyed his "that's exactly what happened, yup" after being asked about his ankle. Maybe he realizes that Edey carried him and now that coming back to the Puds was a mistake? Him and his smug/dirty teammates can enjoy their "soon to be" 4 game losing streak! I can't remember a time where ANY of our players went up there and embarrassed themselves and the program.
Rutgers was not as sloppy as Michigan State, worst first half I've seen them play, Rutgers had it and then blew it by not foulingOn one hand, the line of thinking with not fouling up 3 is worst case you end up in OT, where if you do foul it opens up a bunch of scenarios where you lose in regulation.
On the other hand, Rutgers was sloppy all game long, and the defense they went with was "leave their best 3pt shooter wide open in the corner to make sure Fears doesn't take a 10 foot floater with 3 seconds left", but such is life.
I was going to say this is wild to me ... but I kind of agree, haha. 2001 was the first year I really remember, and 2003 was the first year I really remember regularly looking forward to watching games with my dad as a fifth grader. I remember being shattered when Dee fouled that Wisconsin player in Madison to allow them to snag the Big Ten title from us in 2003, so there's your context!I don't find myself long term hating any particular team in the B1G.

Does this mean Painter is on the hot seatI really enjoyed his "that's exactly what happened, yup" after being asked about his ankle. From a strictly NET perspective, I think Missouri doing well is always better than Alabama doing poorly. For either to be a Quad 1 result, we need that team to be top 50. Right now, Alabama is #21 and Missouri is #73. It would take an epic collapse for Alabama to slip to a Quad 2 loss, and meanwhile Missouri is almost as close to slipping to a Quad 3 win as they are to improving to a Quad 1 win!Bama beat Missouri 90 - 64 last night. Not sure if that helps Illinois or not since they spanked Missouri and lost to Alabama.
