Noticed frosh Tre Singleton of NW has 14 rebounds tonight with 16 minutes to go in 2nd half against PSU. He's averaging 4.7 rebounds per game this year. 🤔

His minutes have been a bit whacky this year - as has other NW players. Sporadic. Generally think Collins is a good coach, but it’s been odd.

I really like Singleton though - reminds me of Vincent Edwards. Surprised he got out of Indiana. Seems like a Painter and/or Shrews type wing

Who should we be rooting for tonight? I don’t wanna hear from people saying I never cheer for Michigan no matter what. I wanna know based on remaining schedule for each of these teams who we strategically want to lose to improve Illinois Big Ten chances.

Also rooting for Sparty.

I'm pretty excited. It's going to be as "vintage B1G" as you can get. Big guys going at it down low, physical guards, elite defense. Probably going to be chippy. Hopefully the refs don't turn it into a FT contest.
Tonight's game is probably the #1 Big 10 game of the year (so far). Illinois over Purdue last weekend would be #2. Not sure you can put any of the Nebraska games to-date in that first tier.

A mid-February match-up of 1-loss Michigan St. hosting 1-loss Illinois would supercede both.

Finally, the Illini vs UM in late February playing for the title could trump all three. Vintage indeed!!

Is it me or is college basketball SO top heavy that the quality, high level slate of games scheduled is few and far between? I really hope that the NCAA Tournament isn't chalky.

Also wondering if the portal/NIL has contributed to this. The best players are flocking to the schools with the most money/reputation, which leaves the gap between the bottom halves of these conferences vs the top half absolutely enormous.

The Big Ten and Big 12 are probably the best examples.

In my very humble opinion, I think MSU, mainly because it is a home game, and I think Michigan is better than MSU. And I am hoping for an upset when they play in Minneapolis and also maybe in Madison later. And if they don’t, when they play Illinois after Minnesota, it should be a classic game, with one loss each (if Illinois beats Nebraska). As mentioned already above by DeonThomas.

They play again the last game of the season.

Both teams go to Purdue.

MSU gets us at home and Michigan has to come to Champaign.

Michigan goes to Iowa. MSU goes to Indiana and Wisconsin.

As others have said, I'd just root for MSU because they're the home team.

I feel like I am having a sort of "crabs in the bucket" mentality tonight in wanting MSU to win. The fact is both of these teams are really good, both are tied with us for first and both have some tough games left. However, only Michigan is currently considered to be "on track" for a #1 seed. Let's drag them down to the #2 seed conversation with the rest of us and eventually pass them!

Since both teams can’t lose, who are we rooting for tonight between UM and MSU?

MSU tonight. MU when they meet again. We want both to lose one of their two meetings. More likely at home for each!
