While everyone was watching Illinois-Nebraska, Minnesota laid an egg in Happy Valley and gave PSU their first conference win of the season.

Since everyone decided Minnesota was improving and impressively 3-1 in the B1G, they've now lost 7 straight.

Their just really bad in close games.

Four steps to building a program:

Lose big, lose small, win small, win big.

Man rethinking this ... Probably would've preferred MSU beat scUM.
I don't know. I sort of see your point in that Michigan doesn't look like it will lose many more games whereas MSU is going to lose a few more. Michigan still has @OSU, @PU @Iowa, @ ILL, and home against MSU left. MSU has ILL, @WI, @PU, @IU, @MI. Also OSU and UCLA at home could be tough too. That's more difficult schedule than Michigan.

I think what we should root for is all these teams get to 4 losses. Yes, I understand the goal is to win all our games, but I’m talking about the safety blanket.

UM current path to 4 Ls: @Purdue, @IL, home MSU

Instead, if they lost to MSU, we could’ve marked off the third in that sequence.

In other words, it would do us a favor if UM and MSU split their two games (instead of a scUM sweep). That would’ve been more feasible if MSU took care of businesses at home. Essentially, them being the home team is what makes it better had they won.

Also, I think UM is a much better team than MSU, and MSU is a lot more likely to slip up in their other games. They almost lost to Rutgers for crying out loud.

Yes, if the game were played at Crisler I wouldn’t have looked too much into it. But since MSU was the home team, you’d probably want them to win.

In all honesty though, and I hate to admit this, a part of me was rooting for Michigan simply because of how ugly MSU plays and Fears getting so many calls.

I think there’s 3 pretty overrated teams at the moment: Michigan State, BYU, Gonzaga.
BYU will likely drop a bit in the polls after their loss last week. So they’ll probably be ~17, which is about in line with where I’d have them

Gonzaga, on the other hand, is the most overrated team in the country. Yes, their metrics are good and that’s worthy of a small bump. But resume matters too and there are 21 teams who have more Quad1 wins than Gonzaga. No way should they be a top 5-7 team in the AP poll.

Michigan St will probably drop to ~11 and that’s about right. They’re 11 in NET and 6-3 in Q1 games (that’s twice as many Q1 wins as Gonzaga).

Michigan States inability to shoot from deep is going expose them at some point. They do a lot well, but offensively, they are challenged. I can't believe I'm saying this, but our love is actually good and that with our length is going to be problematic for them.

one of the things I loved about us deploying the zone and having it be effective is it will be very useful against a team like MSU. we need to use our length sand I think the zone is a great way. even if it's just a wrinkle or a change up
