Marquette stinks. Mark my wordsMaryland in a good one against Marquette too.
Go B1G.
Is Wisky that good at scoring the ball or is Arizona’s defense that bad?
Too early for the league???I will take him in the portal in a heartbeat.
Great place to share that:Just saw the Purdue box score. I thought Braden Smith’s assists were supposed to be down without Edey. Maybe just not against top 5 teams.
If he can do it consistently throughout the season, he may just play himself into the league. He more than held his own against those lottery picks cause sometimes this are the kind of opportunities you need to get on NBA radar.Too early for the league???
To be fair 41 of those points came from free throws. It was a foul fest!Is Wisky that good at scoring the ball or is Arizona’s defense that bad?
The combination of DePaul’s success as a kid and a friend being a fan (actually an Illinois alum, but he’s always been Blue Demons’ fan above all else in MBB world) has led me to follow the team somewhat over the years. They haven’t played anyone yet (opponents are a cumulative 4-9) and don’t until Dec, but they have been taking care of business. Much better than they were with Stubblefield.Don't look now, but DePaul is 4-0. They won 3 games all of last year. Nice start by Holtman. Apparently, as a part of his deal with DePaul, they had to agree to increase their NIL funds "substantially". Not sure what that adds up to, but after flipping channels, they LOOK like they have some legitimate players.
My takeaway: Skyy Clark is a Bruin now? JCL part deux? Well, maybe more like Adam Miller part deux. The combination of DePaul’s success as a kid and a friend being a fan (actually an Illinois alum, but he’s always been Blue Demons’ fan above all else in MBB world) has led me to follow the team somewhat over the years. Oregon State is also 4-0 after not playing anyone yet. That will change as they play Oregon next and then North Texas on the road. They brought in 7 or 8 transfers after losing its two best players (Pope to Texas and Bilodeau to UCLA) and I’ve liked the effort.
Speaking of Bilodeau, he had 15 points and 5 rebounds in UCLA’s win over Lehigh. Skyy Clark pitched in with 9 points and 2 assists.
Yep. Obviously small sample size, but his stats are very similar to what he put up as an Illini. Major difference so far is he’s cut down on TOs some to get his A/T ratio up to 2.0. He also has more steals already than he had in an Illini uniform. My takeaway: Skyy Clark is a Bruin now? JCL part deux? Well, maybe more like Adam Miller part deux.
Just watched the Purdue v. Alabama game on Peacock delay. WOW! what an intense friggin' preseason game. Alabama's size, speed and athleticism looks unbeatable, and they lost! Kudos to Purdue's gutty performance. Braden Smith refused to lose.
Agreed. I remember practically this entire board was completely dismissive of Purdue when discussing season prognostications. Purdue has experience playing together, basketball intelligence, three point shooting, handles, and one of the best coaches in the game. Yeah, it's early, but a gritty win over a stacked Bama team AFTER losing their starting center for the season should give all those naysayers quite a bit of pause. We have our work cut out for us this season. I'm excited to see how well we'll do against the challenges we're going to face.Seemed like a number of posters here threw shade his way calling him over-rated or benefiting greatly from having Edey. Really says a lot about Painter IMO that he can lose a lottery guy and still look like a top-10 team.
It is what it is. They at least kept it more competitive than they did against the other B1G they have faced thus far. Which is about all you can expect as a low major getting paid to play against high major schools and take a beating. Neither team could hit 3s last night. Probably main reason EIU was able to keep it as close as they did.o so close...
I wasn't. I was impractical.Agreed. I remember practically this entire board was completely dismissive of Purdue when discussing season prognostications. Go Golden Grizzlies!Oakland is down by 1 point early against KU.
