To be fair they did have a 3 peat of losses in MauiUConn should not even breathe a word about a 3-peat.
Defense is not even close to last years team.
Big Ten is a brutal but fun grind. Happy for yall you get to be a part of it!!Ducks seem to be playing pretty good D in November, that's nice to see. Usually they start getting nasty on D in late January. Question is the offensive side, not that impressive at this point. I'll be interested in seeing how Dana manages this team.
They took that final possession seriously. Made it an 18-pt blowout instead of a 20-pt blowout. Darn refs.UConn should not even breathe a word about a 3-peat.

It’s just the volatility of early season polls. Teams lose and voters look for teams to move up and new teams to vote for first time. While the Illini loss was to a ranked team, it was not really close (despite getting within 8) and giving up 100 looks bad. Pittsburgh loss looked much better. And the LSU win was their second over a P4 team, Illinois has none (until we beat Ark today). Illinois might have the better long-term prospects for the season than Pittsburgh, but right now Pitt deserve to be ranked higher. That's one cupcake win, one ordinary win, one ranked loss. Yes, historically speaking, usually a team that has that kind of a week drops.
It's okay if they don't drop, but not go up 10 spots.
Sorry, not trying to just blabber on it, just saying...I've never really seen that before from the AP.
To be fair though, while he is a putz it is the media who anoints labels like “second coming of John Wooden.” Though I’m sure he wouldn’t have wasted much energy arguing about it.I didn’t stay up to watch the Maui booby prize game. Refs must have been atrocious to let Dayton win by almost 20.
Apparently the Second Coming of John Wooden couldn’t get his team up for the game.
Hurley turned down Lakers money for this.![]()

Oracle, let us breathe. He got a big raise from UConn and far more job security than coaching the Lakers.
Your original post said they had only lost in between polls. That was incorrect as they had won 2 whole games in between polls. That's one cupcake win, one ordinary win, one ranked loss. Yes, historically speaking, usually a team that has that kind of a week drops.

and unrealistic hopes and expectations with this. It’s just the volatility of early season polls. Teams lose and voters look for teams to move up and new teams to vote for first time. They lost way too much to be anywhere near as good as the last two years. They have no where near the talent of teams like Duke, Bama, Kansas, etc.I wouldn't feel too bad for Hurley quite yet. They weren't a great team 2 years ago and then ran through the tournament. They were a great team last year and blew everyone out throughout the tournament. I'd imagine before March rolls around, this will be a very strong team.
I think this also shows how dominant Clingan was. I think Purdue will also have more challenges this year without Edey. So far they've got 1 big win where they shot crazy from 3, and then got beat pretty easily by Marquette. It's hard to replace some guys.
