To me there is not much of a difference between a 2 and 3 seed. I think it becomes more about location and particular matchups. It is more important to stay above the 4 line, as you avoid the 1 seed until E8. So I would gladly accept 3 seed in Chicago over 2 seed elsewhere.
100% agree. Trying to look and see if tonight’s loss can produce any coincidental good!

Yeah, people are acting way too dire about tonight's result. Didn't really drop them at all. Houston lost twice, Iowa State lost, UConn lost, Michigan lost, Nebraska lost, Kansas lost.

It did if you want a one.

I'm now hoping for a fairly favorable two, like DC vs. Duke.

I want no part of Houston, especially in Houston.

It's now up to 132.8.

Pushing 133.

Again, the record for the highest offensive efficiency was set by Duke last season at 130.1
Can we apply one of those points to tonight’s score?

I blame the stupid media seeding exercise. Our offense had a bad shooting night and we brain sharted our way into an L. On any given night, we're still the team that no one wants waiting for them in the elite 8.

I don’t think folks are acting like this jeopardizes our status quo. However, all of the results we needed to keep our outside shot at a #1 seed alive went our way tonight, and we coughed up a 23-point less to make none of it matter.

Purdue lost. The two bolded loses are WTF type losses especially seeing Creighton get destroyed by St. John's today.

Lots of losses this weekend among top teams, but that also made it a huge opportunity. Big picture, this one isn’t a disaster but… gosh darn… we would have been in the conversation for the one line. Going to be really tough to get back there. Probably have to beat Michigan and win the tournament.
Now we take on Michigan… someone is going on a two game skid. It was always going to be a war, but we’ve added a lot of pressure to it. A loss at Illinois probably doesn’t hurt them as much as a loss at home hurts us, in regard to seeding in a few weeks.
Hope we learn something from it. Seems like a lot of tough lessons the past few weeks. I guess that’s life in the B1G.

Michigan plays Minnesota before us.

I think this loss drops us to the first 3 seed. Not a disaster for sure, but losing to Michigan on Friday could open the door for us being a 4 seed. Had we won last night and then lost ro Michigan, we'd still be a favorite for a two seed. Not disastrous, but making things more difficult than they need to be.

After last night, I bet we end up being the first or second 3 seed. Potential second round matchup with BYU, SLU, or Wisky.

The path to a triple bye remains doable. If the Illini can win 2 of the last 3, they will get the #4 seed in the B1G because Purdue and Wisconsin still must play each other.
They could still do better than a 4 seed. There’s 3-4 games left for all of the teams and many scenarios left.

This is huge. Big picture thinking. More rest for boys. Less chance for a bad loss early in the BTT.

We just lost away by 1 in OT to a tournament team that is 15-1 at home with a 4-pt loss to Arizona.

Sky is far from falling. We’re still very likely a 3 seed with a surprise Michigan win putting us back on the 2-line.

Lots of teams losing around us helps dampen an away loss to a respectable UCLA team.

I just hope MSU falls to the 4 line and gets knocked off by the 5 seed in the R32 or destroyed by a 1 seed.

will be hilarious if this loss is what gives us the STL/chicago route to Indy

Yeah this 4 seed talk is wild lol
We’re either going 16-4 or 15-5. Purdue has MSU, at OSU and Wisconsin. Nebraska has at USC, at UCLA and Iowa. MSU has OSU, at Purdue, at Indiana, at Michigan. I think Purdue has the best chance of running the table. Very tough schedules for all these teams.
