Agreed…this might be a sin to say out loud, but I’d swap color schemes with them in an instant.

Cronin however can stay in LA 😂

Good reason why Hoiberg do what he did earlier this week.

I know this is going to come across as downplaying something that’s indeed very serious but this really seems like a reach by hoiberg.

I actually don’t think it’s all that crazy to have a reaction like he did, heck even in normal circumstances outside a heated game I think at least some people would’ve acted similarly and I wouldn’t blame them. Nobody wants a phone stuck in their face, period.

But to say your pacemaker is going to act up because a phone comes within a few feet of you and that’s the sole reason you do that just comes off as someone trying to save face. Yes they can interfere with them, but for your immediate reaction to seeing a phone to be swatting it away feels like an attempt at justifying a situation rather than just admitting you were already agitated and escalated the situation.

I can understand that point, but I think he’s legit on this. Hoiberg had to retire because of his heart issues. It got serious if I remember correctly.

So I guess Hoiberg doesn't use a cell phone? While a risk ( very small risk), the cell phone has to be held within 6" of the pacemaker to trigger "magnet mode" which XM interrupt the functioning of a pacemaker.

I don’t think it was the phone necessarily. I think it was that the guy called Hoiberg, “buddy” in a condescending manner. I would have been irked as well.

What ever happened to "if you can't do the time, don't do the crime"? When you leading a program and making foolish public remarks you need to be treated accordingly. He would be looking for a new job if I was AD....simply unforgivable behaviour.

There’s just something about that START at Mackey. Almost always the road team looks a bit startled. Same for Michigan — their start was not great. Same for our team as well OTHER than #23.

If I was in his shoes, I would have done the same. I think Fred is a gentleman, and his explanation was more than enough for me.
I did read the whole article though.

Google it or ChatGPT it. It’s BS. Extremely rare for a phone to interfere and it needs to be right against your chest. IF it does interfere you don’t die and it stops as soon as the phone moves away. I don’t know why it’s so hard for some people to just say they reacted poorly and will do better next time.

Good luck in court with the "I have a pacemaker, therefore I can assault anyone I want as long as they are carrying a cellphone" defense
