Definitely a negative. Every single NCAA champion has relied on a clutch 3 to edge out a close game or build an unassailable lead.
Percentage wise they shoot them fairly well — about same as Illini and Nebby — and I remember them hitting quite a few in their win against Alabama earlier in season. They are also top 20 in free throws made and attempted, so not being completely reliant on 3s puts pressure on teams’ defense that result in fouls.

The don’t shoot a lot but their percentage is good so no reason they can’t hit a clutch 3.

Murray State had this situation a of couple of years ago with Ja. I think they were undefeated and didn't get a great seed. They won one, then lost the second. I suspect a similar outcome here.

That’s my thought. You can be efficient offensively without shooting a lot of 3s if you do well in the paint and hit a lot of free throws.
That goes back to what I talked about a few weeks ago in a different thread. Every really good team has a distinct identity. The key is how you adjust and manage around the weaknesses you have.

You're 100% right. It was 2011-2012. They started out 23-0 and finished 30-1 and got a #6 seed. I was just a tad bit off on the years....a decade and a half. Just missed. Lol

BYU senior guard Richie Saunders suffered a torn ACL in the first minute of the Cougars' win over Colorado. The 6-5 guard, averaging 18.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, announced the injury on Instagram and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
