The Last Best Place
Alright, I'm totally rooting for Sacramento State in the Big Sky. Down 3 with 20 seconds left in the semi final game against Montana State.

They're 10-23, 4-14, but knocked out 2 teams in the first two rounds. Do it Hornets!!

Note: Sacramento State has never even made it to the finals of the Big Sky, let alone go to the Dance.
Well you have a wonderful opportunity for redemption tonight by pulling for Montana State!

If there is no clear update on their status prior to Sunday would make sense for the committee to drop them even more (if they underwhelm this week) honestly

I'm certain Self will make clear that they're playing in the tournament (whether they are or not). He knows how the game is played.

I don't care who is or is not playing. If NET is truly a factor and they lose, and therefore drop in NET, I don't think you can just 'ignore' that.... They may not drop enough, a 1 point loss or such, that it makes a difference in the end. But there is hope they have a double digit loss and drop enough that it matters, to us.....

I feel like the BIG tournament deserves it's own thread. Gonna be the last hurrah for several teams, and important in it's own right. I might actually watch some of the Wednesday games :p
You're brave. ;) :ROFLMAO: I'll take a hard pass on the Weds games. I can't bear to watch a repeat of Rutgers-Maryland. That game in early Feb did permanent damage to my vision. As for PSU-Michigan, I'll check my phone first thing in the morning to confirm that Michigan finished 8-24. I can't imagine watching even five minutes of them playing. Or whatever what they do on the court is called.

[EDIT: Because I'm drawn to scenes of horrific carnage, I want to note that in mid-December Michigan basketball was 6-5. That means it has gone 2-18 since. I mean... I should avert my eyes from something that grotesque and stomach-churning. But I can't.]

I think it's perfectly fair to call what Michigan has done this season playing... Calling it competing would be extremely generous.

Do you have any evidence to support this?
No, just my perception after several decades of watching college hoops. Others may feel differently.

I can't imagine the @Fighter of the Nightman levels of time and effort needed to actually prove or disprove this, but I will ping him.

Crazy watching Butler and Xavier. Two coaches pretty much back to their roots and have had a working history with each other. Two coaches, who I thought years ago, would be upper echelon coaches with a few final fours and NC's under their belts.

Which makes the retention of Howard when it looked like they had the opportunity to make a change all the more of a head-scratcher. I suppose they still could fire him after the season.

McNeese state is legit, but I wonder why they played so much a soft non con schedule. They only played one power conference school.

Dude's got a newborn. He's up all night with time to research! How he produces a coherent product under those conditions, however, mystifies me!

Maryland strikes me as the team that either lays an egg in the first round or makes a semis run. Looks like the latter version of Maryland made it today.

lol. My Maryland buddy at work told me earlier in the week that Reese, Scott and Young all announced that they will not play in the NIT if MD is invited. On my way home 30 mins ago I stopped by his office (MD was up 14 at half) and told him now I know why: because they intend to play only in the NCAA tournament!

Yep, nice start!! I personally have always liked RU, but we need the Terps to win twice.
I like RU but not any of their sports teams. My daughter got her very valuable Computer Science degree there (only because we live in NJ not IL or she would have gone to UIUC like Dad).

When registering they have it right in that basketball arena, and you have to walk all over their court. What a dump that place is. I can't imagine wanting to actually go there to play D1 BB. It wasn't much different than Huff.

Yeah, but it sure does seem loud when they have a decent squad!
