Big win for Maryland. About 10pts better than projected and on a neutral court. This should slide them into the top 75 NET so long as they can keep the game against Wisconsin to be at worst a single digit loss. That said, an upset win would lock it up so I'll hope for that instead of biting our nails

I like RU but not any of their sports teams. My daughter got her very valuable Computer Science degree there (only because we live in NJ not IL or she would have gone to UIUC like Dad).

When registering they have it right in that basketball arena, and you have to walk all over their court. What a dump that place is. I can't imagine wanting to actually go there to play D1 BB. It wasn't much different than Huff.
I went to the Illini game at the RAC in December. One of the great places to see a college game IMO. Small, steep, loud, and the Rutgers fans were friendly (well, at least until an ILL-INI chant broke out late!). It's obviously outdated but if I were Pikiell I wouldn't want to give up that home court advantage.

Today Skky Clarke and Jayden Epps both score over 30 points ... and lose.

The Illini likely dodged a bullet with these two guards.

Kid from Maryland tore his ACL, hard to watch, feel for him.
That sucks. Jahari Long is a senior and followed Willard to MD from Seton Hall. Saw a lot of action for them this year (~20 mins/gm). Gotta say that while I detest the Maryland fans, I like the players except Reese.

Who? I can't seem to find any news on this.
Sorry, I dont know their roster well. I had the game on as background noise because it wasn't close but heard the announcers react to the replay so I went back and watched it...just once.

Maryland's win bumped them from 59 to 54 on kenpom with a rise in adjusted efficiency margin of about 0.5 pts per 100 possessions. While the NET formula is unknown, based on how it seems to handle scoring margin I expect a slightly higher bump there. Hoping their NET settles in at around 70 prior to tomorrow's game.

So, one more Juwan Howard meltdown tonight for old time’s sake??
I will admit it would be pretty gangsta if he goes out there sits on the bench smiling as his team gets throttled for the first 38 or so minutes, then after some completely normal and mundane call, he rips his shirt in half, runs out on the court screaming, pimp slaps the official, takes the ball, dunks it, and then walks off with it down the tunnel and out of the arena as Michigan is forced to forfeit the game.

Michigan's basketball team has won exactly as many games during 2024 as Michigan's football team.

I realize that no one on this board will "Like" this post but I nevertheless feel compelled to make it because the stat is absurd.

What a wonderful display of basketball ineptness by ScUM and Ped State . . .

It honestly hurts my heart that this total embarrassment of a basketball season for Michigan comes just months after their football championship. It really sucks most of the fun out of it, knowing their fans are still feeling smug and riding high.

NCAA Tournament bids clinched thus far tonight:

-Southland: McNeese defeated Nicholls 92-76. It is the Cowboys' 3rd NCAA Tournament appearance, their first since 2002.
-Patriot League: Colgate defeated Lehigh 74-55. It is the Raiders' 7th NCAA Tournament appearance and their 5th straight.
