I don’t know. Michigan slumping hard and getting destroyed right now diminishes our win over them and doesn’t help our seeding. Don’t think they will be ranked on Monday. One fewer ranked win on our resume
This is so off and not true at all. Would you have rather lost them? Probably. It doesn’t diminish anything. We beat a team that finished in the top three of the league by 20 on the road.

High Point wins the Big South Tournament, defeating Winthrop 81-69. It is the Panthers' first NCAA Tournament appearance. Their coach, Alan Huss, could be a hot coaching name if they end up winning a game in the NCAA Tournament.

Would be absolutely hilarious if Depaul beat them again on Wednesday to complete the trifecta
Holtman has done a great job with that program this year. From 3 wins to 12 and 0 conference wins to 4. They flat out blew games against Marquette and Providence. Lead with under 30 seconds to go and found a way.

Now that Mark Aguirre is part of the program and they spent the money of Holtman.....they could be respectful or above every now and then and good for them.

First NIT auto-bid clinched today with Navy winning at Bucknell 83-77. Midshipmen will play at American University on Wednesday night for the Patriot League Championship.

Lipscomb defeats North Alabama 76-65 to win the ASUN Conference Tournament Championship. It is the Bisons' 2nd tournament appearance with the other appearance in 2018.

Bradley's defensive rebounding killed them sadly, despite their drought getting more boards would have made it a totally different game.

Watched the second half of the Lipscomb game and it was nip and tuck for most of it. Basketball skills on display might have lacked some, but plenty of intensity. Love the one-bid and non-P4 tournaments.

Omaha will get the tournament bid from the Summit despite the championship game against St. Thomas not being played until tomorrow. St. Thomas is transitioning to D1 and not eligible yet.
Someone please enlighten me on the rationale for this rule. I see none. If they are good enough to make the jump, why are they penalized for it?! And, if the rationale is "well, these other teams have paid their dues at the D-I level", then the rules absolutely needs to be changed because who cares if teams have "paid their dues" if they still aren't good enough to qualify. St Peters got hosed on this, too, in the last few years.

I get the reasoning behind it. The argument is that a school transitioning needs to meet both athletic and academic requirements for their programs. Most programs athletic side (not just basketball in this case) need time to build up their programs to a level where they can compete on the D-I level. And the NCAA actually shortened the time by one year for programs transitioning from either D-II or D-III up to D-I as St. Thomas (MN) would have not have been eligible for D-I postseason until after July 2026.

And Saint Peters has been a D-I program for years. The only recent one who, in your words got "hosed", that I can recall was Bellarmine back in 2021.

It's wild to think the Tommies whom my wife's alma mater (St Olaf) played is now in D-I.

I am a Waukegan HS alum (many many years ago). I can’t remember where I found some old records of high school games from the 20s, 30s or so. I can’t remember exactly the years but it was a long time ago. But it was not unusual for games back then to have total point scores less than 10 points for both teams.
For certain it was not at all uncommon. My Dad graduated around 1929. When he was a senior, he played in a game that his team lost 4-2. He made a free throw that game. It was played in a gym that had steel supporting posts on the floor that were very much in play...and a ceiling at about 20 feet. Those steel posts never were called for an illegal screen!!!

Yes, Bellarmine, you're right, and that is the program I meant.

At this point, with NIL (and for the top players before NIL), we need to stop pretending that academics is an important/crucial aspect of D-I football and basketball. If academics really play some role in this rule, the rule needs to be eliminated.

So scUM gets romped @MSU. The score was actually better than how it felt. They might be in a bit of a freefall.

It's seriously tough to rely on winning every game by 2 points/game winners and be consistently good for an entirety of a season. Especially in March when teams start to figure you out.

Wouldn't have hated to play them instead of MD. Not saying MD is unwinnable, just looking at the matchup.

yep, way more favorable matchup idc what anyone says. not saying we would've surely won, but more favorable matchup.

bit unfortunate with how it played out at the top of standings.

I actually kinda like this: so while I don't think teams (MSU-UM) should feel buddy-buddy after a tough loss/win like we say today, I also don't think stray punches should ever be allowed (there were none). What about a shove? And a shove back? OK, but not punches. And OK means you get a T, punk (instigator Holloman).

Holloman's behavior should not be tolerated by officials, but the punk isn't a bad kid. Just the kind of jerk you want to send home with a stinging loss. Hmmmm ... it may be that the Fighting Illini will have the opportunity to administer just such a medicinal loss. Holloman is all bark ...
