While I do not like watching this strategy and was unfortunate enough to play in some games that experienced the 4-corner stall back in the day, the coach / team is there to win the game. This isn’t the NBA where fans are paying for entertainment value. With or without fans in the stands, this game is about win and advance. If the Eastland coach felt his team was at a disadvantage after losing to Pecatonica in last years sectional final and already twice this year, kudos to him for shaking it up, it worked. Best of luck to his team moving forward. The defense's job is to prevent the opponent from scoring. The offense's job is to score the ball. So at the end of the day it comes down to one question. What is more of a true basketball strategy. Playing zone or holding the ball for an entire quarter? To me playing zone is a legitimate strategy to prevent teams from scoring. Holding the ball at midcourt does not help your offense score the ball and is not a legitimate basketball strategy.
