Ohio St really impressed me last night with the win vs Nebraska without Bruce Thornton. They seem to have turned a switch since the Holtmann dismissal. I think if they win out and make another run in the Big 10 tourney(make it to the semis or championship game), they may have a case to make without having to win the tournament title. That's 3 Quad 1 wins in their last 4 games

Anyone watch the IHSA girls and boys basketball tournaments? One of the best parts of March (it's March 1 today!!) is the early basketball games, and we've got the first 3A girls semifinal this morning. I always put these on in the background, and I love the old "come to SIU" commericals they are showing. Nobody is featured more in the spots than Marcus Domask.

I watched the same game and had the same thoughts but I think they fired him two losses too late. That’s a steep hill to climb

They are playing with passion and energy. There is talent on that roster and always fear a team with nothing to lose and new purpose.

That being said I hate them because I bet on Nebraska. Come on tominaga San, I needed you to bring it!

#21 Dayton at Loyola tonight at 8p should be a good one (ESPN2). Drew Valentine really turned Loyola around this year after a horrible first year in the A10 last year.

No way they get in.

They’re currently 3-6 in Q1, which isn’t bad, but they’re also 2-5 in Q2. So they’re 5-11 Q1/Q2 with a Q3 loss, which basically erases a Q2 win. So that makes them ~4-11 in Q1/Q2.

They have just one Q1 game remaining in the regular season.

They’re out unless the win the B1G tourney.

Welp, I came to wallow around willy nilly in the scUM mud like a fat happy Illini fan should, but alas that Games thread is closed.

Oh well, I'm sure Dan won't mind a little scUM shade here!

Not sure. If they win their last 2 (1 on the road), then get a few in the BTT, I think they have a chance...all depends on the bubble of course.

The committee looks at mid/late-season personnel changes, but I'm sure that doesn't apply to coaches, unfortunately for them.

Looking at the other teams on the bubble. You actually could be right. I’d say they need to win out + another ~2 Q1 wins in the B1G tourney.

Like I said in the last thread, they're basically 5 wins away. Win their last 2, make it to Sunday while beating Purdue/Illinois, and then their resume starts to look realistic.

I'm playing with the BTT bracket generator, and having trouble getting them out of an 8-9 matchup, which means Purdue on Friday. Win out (Michigan & Rutgers, very possible), win the 8/9 game, then beat Purdue and...could happen.

Watching Dayton playing Loyola and so far I am very disappointed in both teams performance.

I get OSU as the 10 seed. My only change to the defaults is PU (at home) beats MD. I don't think that helps OSU as that means they lose in the second round of the BTT vs. IL.

By the number, OSU's best chances are to end up as the 9 seed or the 11 seed. If they're the 8 seed they likely play Minnesota. If they're the 11 seed, they likely play Michigan State.

Just watched the A10 prime time game. Loyola appears to be the same hemorrhoid-like annoying team I recall in past years. First time I saw Dayton live. Not that impressed. Only go 6 deep, no real studs. Unfortunately, I witnessed another Loyola W 77/72 over Dayton.
