Iowa has always been willing to throw the ball. WI also, since the Russell Wilson days. I have no problems running the ball but, we need to play balanced. The lesser the talent the more of a need to use the whole field that is available and, to not get locked into a specific type of play calling. We are going against too many 8 and 9 man fronts to not throw the ball. You pound it on the ground against a 5 or 6 man front. There are qbs that can accurately throw the ball on the team. Move Spann back to qb. BB said when he moved him, that he might be back at qb by the spring. No reason to wait for the spring anymore.
I am not sold on our coaches, but they need time. We need talent. It was someone like Darrel Royal or Frank Broyles who said " You can't make chicken salad without starting with some chicken". We need a lot of chicken.
Our jet sweeps are not working because our OL is not handling opposing DLs. This is giving LBs and outside containment a lot more of the ability to string things out. Opposing DLs are simply slipping blocks because our O linemen are basically using very little technique when coming off of the line. D linemen are being taught to slip blocks now-a-days rather than making it a strength contest.

Where are we going that makes it necessary to skip the building block 'baby steps' we need to make ? While I'm just as anxious as the next to see a MUCH better team, at 80+ years, I know I might NOT see the kind of program stability that's truly necessary for long term success... But being only 7 games into this new coaching staff I'm not ready to start throwing out the baby with the bath water... JMHO, but I think BB is beyond a doubt the best hire we've made since M.White... And having lived through the likes of Valek, Moeller, Tepper, Zook, Beckman, Cubit and all the others I think we need to practice a little MORE patience... JMHO...

I totally agree with this - BB has a great staff and they are all young and hungry to build a program . BB is at great age to have experienced alot already at the helm, while having some great years ahead to accomplish what he is striving for. His learnings really come out in those weekly press conferences.
Saturday really stung everyone - will be interesting to see how we bounce back from it.
I completely agree with this, except Spann is injured. But I have to believe someone else has to be more accurate than what we've seen. Charlotte had a former walk-on who was more accurate for crying out loud.

I thought saturday's result was predictable so I'm really not that disappointed about it. The game that still makes me shake my head is the Maryland game that the Illini completely blew. They had to do everything wrong in the last five minutes to lose that game and they did in spades.
Has anyone heard what type of injury that Spann has? With the bye, he will have had 3 weeks to recover. Hopefully that is enough time to get him back on the field.
I believe I saw hamstring mentioned on Twitter, but not 100% certain.
Yeah, Dan posted it in the Penn State pregame thread. It was basically what BB said during the press conference.
I believe his comment was tongue in cheek. I agree with his post for that reason.
