The missed 10-second call was especially inexcusable as that count is the responsibility of one of those three. I know it isn't, but that should be a reviewable play or at least one that a team should be able to challenge at the next dead ball. That's an easy one to review and reset the clock if a violation is confirmed. It's as important as an out-of-bounds play and is even easier to review; if the shot clock hits 20 while dribbling in the backcourt, it's a violation.
Why not have a horn or beep when the clock hits 20 if not across the 10 second line? Just like the shot clock. Takes one more thing off the plate of the official.

This was terrible. As all ball as it gets:

Especially egregious considering this is what Mirk got called for in overtime against MSU:

Not that he'll seem to care, but what an embarrassment for DJ:

Outside of the 10sec, this was the most egregious one of the whole game for me. Super pivotal moment, 7pt lead with 5min to go, could've shut the door.

I just have utterly zero clue what this official is seeing. Honestly, he probably has a better angle than this replay. There's literally NO ONE in front blocking his view, as he sees Keaton get shoved into the cheerleaders. Just terrible.

The goaltends were interesting. Z was called for 3.

One of them was clear and obvious in overtime.

The other Brad challenged and didn't get it.

This is the super, super close one:

Just atrocious:

Might be in the minority, but I didn't think the Tomi call was a bad call, at least compared to the other ones. He seemed to hook him.

However, on that exact same possession, here's a drive by Keaton. Hummel said on the broadcast he thought it was a foul, so here it is:

KW did get shoved out of bounds Wisky player did initiate contact with Mirk. 10 sec missed big time. All the other calls are good with me. I apologize for getting involved with the referee discussion but it a tiresome excuse for our guys losing. I may have been brought up in a different era. I never played for a coach on any level that would let you blame the refs for a loss. Especially in a one possession game.

With some of the calls and no calls around the league it makes you wonder if the $$$ involved in sports betting is having a dark influence on some calls
It always has and always will

Filthy

We win an evenly officiated game by 10+

Sounds crazy to say that but most of the f-ckery occurred immediately after the point we went up 12 with 8 mins left
When this sort of thing happens with the consistency that it has over the last 30 years, it is impossible to label it anything other than by design. I will shout this from the mountain top until it changes. My expectation, however, is that it will not. That is, unless AD's and coaches start having the courage to take a stand for what is right. Up to this point, they have not.

Exactly, and doing so gives a 90% free throw shooter free points (and potentially another possession if flagrant since we're talking about hard fouls)
Yeah, really not understanding this argument. If he were a sub70 FT shooter, I'm all for it. But he's got one of the best percentages in the country.

The goal should be to NOT foul a guy like that. He went 12/13 against us and I'd rather have that than 19/20 or even 18/20. You're handing out FREE points for.... no reason?

We're literally trying to claim the game plan should be to make an effort at putting a 90% FT shooter at the foul line? Willingly?

I could be wrong, but I think the point was that it takes just one or two of these types of fouls early on to have the intended effect; not to continue to do it throughout the entire game.

Not gonna lie, that’s genuinely hysterical.

You’re good with this being a jump ball and wiping off 2 points?

You’re also okay with this being a foul on our All American point guard?

For sure Clean block and I don't believe it was all ball as claimed. Are saying because he is our All American it isn't a foul? However my point was these calls didn't cost our team the game.

I asked gemini "Illini lost to wisconsin while shooting 53% and 45% from 3p..Has illini ever lost in the last 20 years with those offensive percentage?

Gemini answer: No, Illinois has never lost a game in the last 20 years while shooting that well from both the field and three-point range.

Further analysis from gemini:

Why did they lose?
.....a few critical factors flipped the game:

Turnovers: Illinois gave it up 13 times (a Big Ten season high), while Wisconsin only turned it over 4 times. The Badgers turned those mistakes into 23 points.

Free Throws: The Illini entered as a top-5 national free-throw team but struggled mightily, going just 11-of-19 (57.9%).

Defensive Rebounding: Illinois allowed 13 offensive rebounds, giving Wisconsin 12 second-chance points and allowing them to take 16 more shots than the Illini.

People complaining about the orange krush, have you ever taken a look when they pan to the crowd. A lot of nerds in there.

When I was in Champaign, we never wanted to deal with fundraising to be a part of the Krush. I wasn't exactly at my charitable peak when I was a 20 year old college kid. However, I was in my loud and rowdy peak. Because we didn't want to deal with the fundraising, and the lottery system typically resulted in bad seats, we tended to watch at Legends or in our apartment, and we were quite vocal wherever we watched.

Get rid of the fundraising, have a pregame happy hour with cheap beer, and you will attract the crowd that is going to be loud and wild.
I lived at Bash Court 1982-83. So poorly constructed the curtains on my bedroom window would blow around even with the window closed. Lived on 4th floor. Friends were just below us on 3rd floor. We had a party and started running low on beer, went down to our friends unit to get the stored spare keg while everyone was dancing in our apartment and I could have swore the ceiling of their apartment was gonna collapse as I saw it moving up and down. Sorry for the digression. When we attended Illini games, they were almost always accompanied by a boisterous and loud crowd.

Bolded: What, one guy? That is the trend?
Touche. At the time, that was the only high school recruit of Brad’s time at Illinois to be a first round draft pick. As of today, it’s still 50%.

Petro is now the second pro to not get PT, he was just a pro before getting here. I know two isn’t really a trend either.

Neither one of them play defense. You won’t play for Brad. Podz was so fought for he chose Santa Clara. Feasted on lower tier defenders, and still never played defense. Still doesn’t in the pros.

Petro is lost on the defensive end and misses layups. Not sure about the Pro league he played in but, they must have had no PGs. When he leaves after this year he might go to Santa Clara and still not play defense.

1) We shot well from the field.
2) Our defense on the initial possession was really good.
3) Spotted them 8 to start overtime and still had a shot at the end.
4) Wagler

Short list tonight.

Get healthy, start winning, don’t stop winning. Looks so easy when you type it out.
Negative, Brads never resposible for failing adapt in games or trusting good players on his bench. Often, players that have proven themselves prior or after leaving. Even to the point of being a first round lottery pick the following year or starting for a power 5 school. But here guys that never will get a minute of tick as a pro started ahead of those that will and have. Our fan base at time drinks so.much kool aid. We had a first round pick and others behind DaMonte and you guys act like Brads beyond accountable for being foolish. Dude makes millions n its a joke. He 8s an amazing recruiter and has a great staff. But damn!

LOL LOL. Now you’re condemning him for playing through the bad ankle last game. Do you know what can happen when you play through pain one game? It can cause you to not be able to play the next game. Are you really so sad about this loss that you have to lash out at a player in order to cope?
Amen!

You’d be surprised whAt you can do when the adrenaline’s flowing.
And Indy has bought tickets to games in the past which entitles him to have a say in when AS should be playing
