Gosh I guess I’ll fly in to Champaign twice a week from KC. I’ll miss a lot of work and it’s going to cost a lot but if you say so.

Some late-season observations I shouldn’t have to make (because we pay people a lot more to see them):

- We’ve GOT to come up with better offensive schemes down the stretch than just ‘leave it to Keaton’.

- Teams are learning they can disrupt us with constant contact and physical play all game and will get away with it most of the time.

- We have to stop the ball and limit fast break points. Teams are learning they can play fast against us because we don’t get down the court quickly (on either end).

- Leaving wide open 3-point-attempts is inviting teams to go off on you every night. This can easily lead to a huge upset in the NCAA tournament.

- Settling for 3s when you’re the tallest team in the country AND also not rebounding well is a recipe for disaster. We can back down almost anyone. We are so much better shooting 3s after a kick out from down low.
Some of these have been weaknesses all year long. We've just shot fts much better and outrebounded people by large margins to get extra shot possessions most of the year. Just not the last two games. Also dynamic guards expose some lack of perimeter speed and defense with KB out. Lost another slasher to the hoop with AS out. They've committed to spacing, shooting 3s , and offensive rebounds to achieve a highly efficient PPP number. Lot of turnovers tonight compared to Badgers. Asking Wagler to do perhaps too much when offense gets stagnant waiting to hunt mismatches and play iso ball rather than running set plays ie Iowa, Nebraska

tomi 17 points first half
tomi 2 points in second half
big mistake not going through him and at least posting him in the second half

13 turnovers because of 8 steals. mirk had 4 and they were bad. wagler had 5. sadly he's a superstar but not getting superstar calls. 3 of those turnovers were directly related to that.

rebounding was bad all night. they got 13 offensive rebounds!

free throws. free throws. this one I guess is because we were gassed I guess.

gonna be pretty hard to win the big ten, maybe impossible. 1 seed is gone. 2 seed slipping. this was a big big blunder, no way around it

If you're on a message board and not actually at the game, I really don't want to hear what you have to say about the crowd. But that is my opinion.
Small matter of a 3000 mi flight.

This is a good time to just own it and not debate. We've all seen the place rocking, tonight just wasn't our best.
Own what? A ticket to the game?

Can we also not say anything about the refs because we aren’t trained officials or about anyone’s play because we aren’t D1 athletes?? Come on, haha. People are annoyed that our student section literally isn’t being a student section and that our crowd is so noticeably less engaged than other good programs. That should bother all of us … they’re two components of pride that make up our program’s tradition just like any other tradition associated with the university.
We need the chief back

Too one dimensional on offense tonight, Wagler dribbling around with no ball movement.
I can only hope that was an intentional effort to buy some rest on the offensive end. Otherwise there wasn't much of a plan or the players had no effort.

I think Brad is a good coach. I don't think he's "great." Just can't adjust in game.
The Illini up 11 with 10:55 to go. I think "great" coaches win that game.
JMO.

Don't holler at me.

I understand it's a big win for Wisconsin, but the post game celebration from Gard and Blackwell, seriously, down our two best defenders?
Z has been by far our best defender all season and it's not remotely close. That said, losing Boz and Andrej is difficult to overcome. Down 2 starters and 4 players overall forces you to either play your best 6 extended minutes or rely on your 3rd string end of bench guys. We chose the former and even though we were completely gassed, I'm really not sure it was the wrong decision. Playing Petro and Lee extended minutes doesn't really give me much confidence either

I mean any game where you play Jake Davis and Ben Humrichous a combined 80 minutes its going to make it tough to win against a power conference opponent.

Probably needed to see more Lee to at least attempt to slow down Boyd or Blackwell (even Petrovic).

That being said they still managed to get to OT and win in regulation. Wagler and Tomi went a combined 5-10 from the line. If Wagler hits two from the line at the end of regulation you win there.

If he couldn’t go the right call was bench him. No issue there.

My question is how do we not find minutes for anyone to rest our starters.
