Honestly our good shooting from the field is the only thing that kept us in the game. They won “the math problem” all night.

16 more field goal attempts (+32)
3 more attempts from 3 (+3)
We had 5 more FTA (that we couldn’t capitalize on) (-5)

You’re spot on…

Admittedly down 2 guards is tough… but if we’re not gonna run AT ALL, Davis and Keaton can’t combine for 3 boards. Not against that team.

And I love those dudes and already know we ask the world of Keaton. But can’t happen

That's convenient for judging people who are actually at the games.
If a fan from Champaign watched our United Center game or a Braggin’ Rights Game on TV and felt our crowd was uncharacteristically bad, he/she would not be some hypocrite for stating that opinion, and it wouldn’t be some personal attack. We should all want our crowds to be good wherever we play…?

I think the SFC renovation killed the Krush. Prior to the renovation it was set up to where the crowd could get super loud. Putting in the expensive seats for the blue hairs killed the atmosphere from what it used to be in the early to mid 2000s
No. Orange Krush standing there with their arms crossed killed the Orange Krush. Hard to be a fan section that creates a home court advantage when you're silent.

It's gonna take winning out at this point which we have proven we can do. I said 17-3 probably wins the conference and there is no margin for error now. 6 games left. Win them all!
And that's not any kind of remote possibility. Just need more minutes.

law and order crazy !!!! GIF

It'll be okay. We're still in the running for the conference and a #2 seed. Once healthy, nobody will stop us! I'll get some popcorn for this postgame thread...🍿
Conference title pretty unlikely with the way Michigan is playing right now.

He played literally 80% of the MSU game on this same sprained ankle …

LOL LOL. Now you’re condemning him for playing through the bad ankle last game. Do you know what can happen when you play through pain one game? It can cause you to not be able to play the next game. Are you really so sad about this loss that you have to lash out at a player in order to cope?

come on. we don't need Andrej right now we need him in a month. don't aggravate an injury for a random conference game. This take that a player needs to play injured is from a different era of sports.

Underwood needs to play his bench so our starters aren't gassed at the end even if the bench isn't good or the score slips. We lost anyway, so maybe Lee and petrovic get some minutes and a chance to build their confidence. he tried to rest wagler for two seconds and immediately put him back in when mirk lost the ball once. Wisconsin did a good job on mirk who i think has subpar ball handling. they really scouted him well disrupting his dribble and his cross court passes.

KU's student section and crowd is one of the best so it's hard to judge any crowd against them. They go apeshit when their team is playing bad and finally scores. i've seen that energy launch late game rallies for KU in the past in games that they would have lost otherwise.

Sprained ankles get worse over the next few days after games.

The loss wasn't because of AS. It was our FT shooting. For whatever reason people just don't want to look at the most obvious factor.

Yes, indeed. We are 800 miles from Champaign so it’s a little hard to get back for games in the Assembly Hall. But when Illinois goes to Rutgers, we’re there. We were in Philadelphia for Penn State and we have tickets for Maryland. And we went back for two men’s games and a women’s game. And then there’s the season tickets for football.

It’s expensive to attend games when it takes five days to go to one. If anyone wants to contribute…should I start a go-fund-me?
Exactly. We’re all Illini fans, there isn’t an elevated status given to those who live in Champaign County … the Illini aren’t “their” team, the Illini represent all U of I alumni and more broadly all Illinoisans as our state flagship university. Fans from Central Illinois will more often see them play in Champaign, those in Chicagoland at Evanston/the UC, those in Western Illinois at Carver, those in St. Louis/Southern Illinois at Braggin’ Rights, etc. Expecting us all to cheer and act like we’re remotely excited to be there is such a low bar.

I have a kid who just turned two and our parents do not live in Chicago. We paid for a babysitter and however much more for Ubers, tickets, drinks, etc. to attend both the UC game and Evanston game, and we cheered loudly at both. If I lived in Champaign, I’d love to attend games … unfortunately the consulting firm who pays my bills still hasn’t opened its Champaign office even though I’ve made it clear I’m a big fan!!

No one is lashing out at him that I've seen. Speaking for myself, I just wish he would have tried to play. The importance of this game in terms of the conference title was enormous especially coming off a loss. If this were some bottom feeder team or had we won at MSU fine then I could see it but we needed just some minutes from him tonight. Guys play on sprained ankles and playing through pain a lot.

Where did our height advantage go in the last 5 minutes? No plays where we could dominate with 7 footers, get fouled and not depend on a Freshman to carry the load! We play so well running low post plays, instead we slow it down for an open 3 and hope for the best. Two 7 footers and they are at the corners to open up the middle.

You think DP was sick enough to not play Monday?

Yeah, that.
One is a sickness, the other is an injury. 2 completely different animals. I think for the people complaining about Andrej, they need to just sit back and realize that....
1. His injury didnt get worse tonight.
2. If we miss him for a game, better for it to be against Wisconsin in February when it means nothing compared to what we want to accomplish down the road..and
3. You don't have to play on his ankle, so you have no idea what he was going through.

There’s 700 student Krush tickets according to Wiki. Blaming 700 people for an arena of 15,000+ being quiet is silly.
A lot of Illinois fans are real lumps. It’s like they don’t want to be seen cheering and making noise. And people just aren’t very friendly. They wrap themselves up in their cocoons and don’t even talk to the person next to them.

I dunno. I have to come a long way to attend games. We get there early and don’t rush to leave. Maybe the band will play the Alma Mater and we can sing it before we have to leave. I’m soaking it all up.

So look, my wife and I are class of ‘70–you can do the math on our age—but we are going to be noisy, and we’re going to sing, and we are going to get our money’s worth. You only go around once and you don’t know how many laps.

Be loud with us. I-L-L- 🧡💙

12 games missed this season by starters...

Probably amazing we were even contending for a B1G title in the first place considering:

Michigan: 0 games missed by starters
Michigan State: 1 game missed by starter (Ugochukwu in their last game)
Nebraska: 2 games missed by starters
Purdue: 2 games missed by starters
Illinois: 12 games missed by starters
You must start with the assumption IL will have players hurt every year. Maybe Underwood needs to really push developing a bench to weather these injuries that always come

There really does need to be something done about Krush and the general crowd as well. In the down years it was understandable but we are a top 10 program and the atmosphere stinks. I scratch my head that Krush will line up two hours before the game to get Jake Davis hair but then be so lame with cheering the team on. Are non-Krush student tickets scattered in the heights of C or concentrated in one area? If not concentrated they should be. There needs to be more than just the Krush student section.

I've gotta say, the number of fans asking for Petro to not be on the bench is sorta crazy. It'd be like in 2005 people begging Weber to play Nick Smith 20 minutes a game. Difference is, hilariously enough, Nick Smith actually had better metrics than Petro does currently.

I hate continuously bringing this up but:

Team without Petro:
Offense: 1.29ppp (85ppg)
Defense: 1.04ppp (68ppg)

Team with Petro contributing
Offense: 0.89ppp (59ppg)
Defense: 1.08ppp (72ppg)

In raw, he's currently considered in the bottom 5% of ALL NCAA players. There's a very big reason he's on the bench and not coming to save us.
This is just dumb. He has only played 37 minutes in the B10 and was hurt early. He hasnt had a real opportunity. He wssnt been healthy nor given any real minites or opportinty. The league he played and starred in is legit. Crap, pepple said the same crap aboit Podz too and brad didnt play him either.

BU had T, Z , Mirk , Ben amd Jake out there for 1 minute and lost a a good lead in 45 seconds. Just dum i7b.
