Lazy defense, tired players, stupid injuries, bad coaching, too many turnovers, etc spells overtime defeat to a mid level but still weak opponent who plays a more disciplined style. Needless loss that could derail a very promising season. This hurts and no excuses can explain it. Sorry guys better luck next year.

Very disappointing. Even without KB and AS, it still sucks. Make your damn FTs. After this game, they are definitely a 3 seed.

Is this the point of the season where the defense starts mucking things up again?

Defense is going to look bad without those two playing, but I’ll see Tomi sagging off a shooter to give up a wide open three in my dreams tonight.
Not saying there aren’t good “excuses” like us being tired or horrible refs or injuries … but come on, guys. This short handed and tired team, AS IS, had to go so out of its way to not come out on top in regulation. And they of course did all of those things.

I keep telling myself the only silver lining is that maybe we fall to #3 seed territory, end up getting the Chicago Regional and we’re playing elite basketball again at full strength in a month.
I think that’s about all we can hope for now. Might be able to get back to a two seed still but I think we have at least two more losses this year.

No one is lashing out at him that I've seen. Speaking for myself, I just wish he would have tried to play. The importance of this game in terms of the conference title was enormous especially coming off a loss. If this were some bottom feeder team or had we won at MSU fine then I could see it but we needed just some minutes from him tonight. Guys play on sprained ankles and playing through pain a lot.

Terrible take based on no information. You have no idea if it was possible to even attempt playing. Sometimes guys are just hurt and can’t go. Yes guys play through injuries a lot and a lot of times guys can’t. To question his toughness with nothing to base that on his ridiculously unfair to AS.

Thats another Underwood in game coaching poop poop down pants. You have Lee and petro. Wisconsins 2 guards smoked us in 2nd half. While we're playing 6.10ft on 6.3ft entire game. Woof 7 million reasons to be pissed off! Im not at all upset with BigZ and our big guys. Thats was horrible coaching putting our team in that position! He'll, Redd could have slowed them down!

Sprained ankles get worse over the next few days after games.

The loss wasn't because of AS. It was our FT shooting. For whatever reason people just don't want to look at the most obvious factor.
Absolutely. Maybe this is overly optimistic, but our losses just don't pass the eye test as bad losses.

Even with losing, we don't look like a team with significant problems to overcome. Just a few FTs here, some bad calls there, injuries... etc.

I know a significant problem when I see one:

Health - significant problem, too many missed games from our best players

Our home court advantage - significant problem, just very uninspired.

You just contradicted your own point.

Last thing before I call it a night and forget about this game until March.

I’ve been in Mihailo’s corner this whole year. I’ve really believed he deserved minutes. The fact he didn’t get anything tonight is extremely damning. Before tonight, I definitely did not want him to go when the year ends. However at this point it might be best for both parties.
Unfortunately, though I wanted MP to prove capable and deserving of minutes, I can beat him off the dribble....and I am 78 Y/O. Seriously, not once this season have I seen him make a good defensive play, something we should have suspected from watching tape on him before offering.

And shake my head on all the takes by people that have seen him do nothing all season on defense while BU sees him every day. Can he possibly know more about his own players that the fans? Many sure don't think so, but I will bet my life that BU has an infinite amount of wisdom in the game such that I would bet my life he knows better than anyone if Petro can be trusted. That is defensive deficiencies are not evident to all is bewildering.

But as much as anyone, I hope he works on his defense and improves to the point of becoming serviceable in the future. However, against the MSU and Wisky guards is not the time to fail your way to success.

Being at the game tonight, I noticed the orange krush just flat out sucks. Is it a generational thing that kids don’t want to go crazy anymore?

Not generational. Other programs have better atmospheres. I think it’s gotta be something about how Krush is constructed. Watch last nights KU game. I don’t expect that but could we get 50% of that? Right now it’s not even in the same zip code in terms of student energy. Watch Purdue. Hell I was at the game in Lincoln last week and their atmosphere is WAY WAY better. This needs to be a project for Josh to go figure out. Quickly.

If a fan from Champaign watched our United Center game or a Braggin’ Rights Game on TV and felt our crowd was uncharacteristically bad, he/she would not be some hypocrite for stating that opinion, and it wouldn’t be some personal attack. We should all want our crowds to be good wherever we play…?
Oh, I agree in general. It's the "we" part which is critical. Do we need to be better? Sure.

At the same time, a crowd many times is simply a reflection of the team they are cheering for and the circumstances playing out in front of them. And they're at the game. I'm not.

Agreed! It’s a major problem, it’s like we barely have home court advantage lol not sure what happened

So let’s call a spade a spade, MP was great against Minnesota. Therefore I wouldn’t say he hasn’t had a good defensive possession all year. That was his best game in every way.

I do think Brad loves his spirit and wants to play him. But he always wants to play AJ. Just because you love a kid and his work ethic doesn’t mean he’s going to come in and help you win. That’s what makes Brad a top level coach. I wish MP nothing but the best. It seems like from all accounts he put in the work but it didn’t work and that’s okay.

They earned this loss with their poor play and awful FT shooting, so I'm not making excuses.

But I'm really sick and tired of watching Keaton getting beat to death on every possession and rarely getting a call. Once again the B1G refuses to fix the officiating problem and let these games become rock fights.

Again, not why we lost but it's really frustrating to watch.

Oh, +1 on the comments about how pathetic the crowd is. MSU, Purdue, and Nebby fans have embarrased the once dominate Orange Krush.

ehhh maybe that’s why he couldn’t go this game. just saying

My opinion, he should’ve at least given it a go … Again that’s my opinion … As well as others both on here, in the program and around the program …

Stating he played most of the MSU game on this same sprained ankle is just a fact … It’s the exact same quote Brad just gave …

Andrej was limping pretty noticeably before the game in the video I saw on social media pre-game. Not surprised he didn't get any tick.

You start going down a weird rabbit hole with “well he should have played at whatever percentage he was” deal.

I saw Kylan warming up pregame. Taking contact. Technically speaking, he could have played tonight, right?

I’d just prefer leave it alone

There’s also the floating of “they thought they could just win without him”… if that’s a negative that comes with being confident with next-man-up attitudes and trying to get healthy for postseason play, then I guess decide how mad you are about it.

Just looking forward to getting Kylan and Andrej back, the Jake/Ben lineups slap against Long Island U and Maryland but having them both start and play the entire game vs top half B1G teams hasn’t made for fun game threads lol.

looks like a lot of that section doesn't even know anything about basketball. They are just there for the music during the timeouts
