We should be at full strength this weekend. We need our best two ball stopping guards on the floor. This will get Keaton a rest. We should get everyone under 30 minutes a game from this point going forward. 200 minutes divided by 8 is 25 minutes and we can rotate the 8 in often. Davis and Hummer should get 20 minutes and Big Z 25. We need to rest as much as possible during games. We have 4 tough games left and we need them all.

I was livid last night but it is what it is. We need Bam back. I’ve also adjusted my expectations for Andrej the rest of the year.

Opinions vary on the severity of the ankle injury but I guarantee the rest of the rotation guys at least try to play. Five subpar minutes could’ve given the team enough recovery to pull out the win.

If AS can go and contribute, great. I’d prefer not to see him back next year if it’ll cost anywhere near $3MM+. He’s simply unreliable.

Edit: missed Indy’s post above but glad I’m not alone. You fight for your brothers.

The medical staff isn’t going to force a kid to sit with a slightly sprained ankle …

The hard part of the whole thing for me is that I guess I just got used to guys toughing it out … Trent played hurt ALL. THE. TIME. … DMFW played hurt … I mean those guys were warriors and I thought that was the standard … EDGs …

Deciding to sit and rest it after playing on it the whole MSU game and practicing … Need this win … At least try and give it a go and if you can’t then hey you tried at least … Just doesn’t sit well with me that there wasn’t even an attempt …

And people can disagree and that’s fine …
What does slightly sprained mean? Is it like a mild heart attack. Kid couldn't go. That should be the end of the discussion.

Next man up

Teams don't just replace dudes like Boswell and Andrej with equivalent talent when they go down with injury, it is unreasonable to expect we just have 5 star McD AA level talent that also happen to have 5,500+ minutes of power conf experience waiting on the bench to come in when these guys have injuries

Now, should Brandon Lee & Mihailo Petrovic have played 12-16 minutes last night to give guys a breather? That I agree with
Brandon Lee played one frickin minute and the 12 point lead became a 7 point lead. You cannot play these guys when the game is on the line. Period. 12-16 minutes? GMAFB

Like I said earlier, this is 2022esque. Short bench, players playing hurt and fatigued.

They should ban their phones while sitting in the orange crush section! It is pititful to watch! Everyone is just staring at their phones the whole damn game. Everyone is texting their friends, etc instead of watching and cheering... Wtf!

He's a good player.

Also....

I think we hit the portal for a replacement wing.

Who knew Pryce Sandfort was actually the guy we should have honed in on? Wild

I rewatched the film this AM … Absolutely brutal …

Something I forgot to say last night but after watching the film this AM … Z has to be better … PERIOD …

Also - Ben doesn’t get enough credit … Kid makes mistakes for sure but he freaking battles … And his improvement on defense is just unreal …
Ben played some really solid defense last night. He's so much better than he was last year. Too bad he'll be out of eligibility

One is a sickness, the other is an injury. 2 completely different animals. I think for the people complaining about Andrej, they need to just sit back and realize that....
1. His injury didnt get worse tonight.
2. If we miss him for a game, better for it to be against Wisconsin in February when it means nothing compared to what we want to accomplish down the road..and
3. You don't have to play on his ankle, so you have no idea what he was going through.
Here is my take. I am not a mind reader. If he is too injured to play, do not play him. It is basketball, and injuries are a part of the process. Brad underwood, in my opinion, has the correct approach to this situation.

Turn overs, Missed free throws, I can't believe that Blackwell wasn't called for a foul in Waglers face. I forget what they call that fouls. The refs let Blackwell manhandle Wagler. I hate what when on after the game with Fanta the announcer. I don't think Hummel liked it. You just don't do that for a visiting winning team. The refs missed many calls.
What happened after the game with John Fanta?

This team should beat Wisconsin at home even with injuries. Enough excuses.

I thought Z had an awful first half. I thought his 2nd half though was much better and I thought he gave us a pretty big spark after halftime when we immediately gave up the lead. I also think he deserves a lot more credit for not giving up the offensive rebound at the end of regulation, and trying to make that effort save after the block near the end of overtime. Those were effort plays that didn't work out as well as the fans hoped, but he was trying out there. Big Zs biggest issue is his strength and conditioning. Plain and simple, he gets pushed around like he's a freshman and also has freshman grip strength to hold onto the ball. Calipari did him no favors. He needs an offseason where he doesn't leave the gym or Fletch. He had his mistakes and some bad turnovers, but I didn't think he was terrible.

Ben I completely agree with you though- thought he played a hell of a game on both sides. He has improved immensely this year and been one of our better players consistently, especially on defense.

Its where your feet were touching last so since he jumped from the backcourt he hadn't established himself yet. That was actually the right call in those circumstances. Sloppy play by Jake.
Thanks...for some reason I thought you had to have your feet down on the back court floor....hey they got that one right!!

I think it's basket interference if it's still on the rim, right?
I'd like some explanation on this as well, as the goaltend that was reviewed that went off the glass and hit rim before Z touched it appeared to be outside the cylinder. I thought that is considered fair play. I don't blame the live call, but since it was reviewed I'm unclear on what basis they confirmed it was a goaltend. Unless this is no longer the rule.

Will he though? One year at Evansville and two years here. He probably has a pretty good case for one more if he wants it.

I would think Underwood not playing him is a pretty clear statement that he thinks he's unplayable.
It would be nice if someone in the press would ask him about Petro

Agree. BU has had trouble keeping teams hungry and resilient within games especially at home. He is fantastic at adding talent to the roster. But the injuries/sickness and inexplicable home losses really have been a bugaboo. And when things get tight it seems the staff goes into a shell or freezes at times. Happy he helped resurrect the program but it’s time to take the next step. Hope they can find a way to do it with this team.
This is a direct result in BU's style of offense which is a no offensive sets offense, just exploit match ups. Well what happens in off nights? Or when they have a competent XsOs coach? Or injuries? Have you noticed he has run off every legitimate PG not named Trent Fraizer? Is it because he favors the downhill slasher like Ayo & TSJ instead of guys like Adam Miller? Wagler can't pass. He has no mid range stop and pop. Does not draw defenders and dish. Good or bad he puts his head down and either tosses up and magnificent shot or something ugly in eiither an iso or screen. Thats not very team oriented. Brad needs a deep bench of 1 or 2 trick ponies to be able to make his style of basketball work. Good results when healthy and everyone clicking, bad results on off nights, against good fast well rounded PGs, and top notch XsOs coaches. He gets outcouch constantly because he plays pick up basketball AAU offense. Just that simple.

As for guys who aren't getting playing time because they suck... I give you
Brandin Podziemski. Plenty of BU bench guys have gone on to be productive. So was it the player or Brad? His job is to make them serviceable esp in this NIL era....

Just a genuine thought, not really implying anything at all: why is it you always mention Trent and DaMonte?

We've had other pretty good ones too - Ayo, Kofi, Terrance, Marcus, Plummer, etc.

Stojakovic is SOFT. He should have at least tried to give it a go. What kind of message does that send to your teammates? I'm sure he will move onto his 4 school in 4 years after this season. What are they doing about Ty Rodgers? Is he going to play at all this year? Or are we rehabbing him and paying him NIL money to have him move on to a different school next season? As far as the Orange Krush goes, and the home crowd in general, such a poor atmosphere. I remember just a few years ago the Krush had newspapers in their hands and would act like they were reading the paper when the away team was announced at the beginning of games to get into their heads. Now I see most of the Krush is on their phones while the game is going on. And then as you look around the court you see a bunch of blue hairs sitting around afraid to get up a root for the beloved. It is so sad!! Bring back the Chief and maybe we can return to our roots as a place teams fear to go and play at. I-L-L!!

Humdinger is on his redemption tour and I'm on that bandwagon.... geez we all hoped he be buried on the bench with the talent we have....

Counterpoint, not that i necessarily disagree..........Trent in both 21 and 22 seemed a bit broken down by march, especially in 22.

To be clear , not a dig on TF, he is One of my favorite players ever here

I rewatched the MSU game on Sunday and I'm not going to torture myself like that again. What I noticed from the MSU game, which I'm sure was repeated again last night:
I want to count how many times all 5 guys were simply not on the same page defensively. I'm talking one guy looking to get matched up while the other 4 are in zone, and vice versa. Some times it lead right to a guy receiving a pass and someone having to scramble to rotate. Other times, it's a guy running up to set a ball screen and nobody going with him because that guy defending the screener thinks he's in zone and the guy getting screened is playing man.
Or it's just that guys were not ready to lock in immediately after the ball crosses half court. Like you have guys not knowing where the ball is and Fears has a foot inside the arc driving toward the basket with 23 seconds on the shot clock. Happened a ton in the second half at MSU and I attribute it to guys being too tired to get organized. Tomi pretty much the most common culprit with Mirk and Z contributing their fair share.
Gotta find a way to keep guys fresh enough so that they can stay mentally locked in for 40.

Help me understand when in the first half where Jake picks off a pass and goes into our half court and tosses it back to Keaton…. we loose possession based on back court violation. Looks like Walger is in air and on our side of the court.
What am I missing or not seeing? I have rewatched it several times… is there an explanation I am missing?
I do not have Peacock so I did not see the game. If Wagler had not established 2 feet in the offensive zone before he caught the pass, I believe it is a backcourt violation. Maybe an official will correct me.
