The really dispiriting aspect of all of this is that I have no idea what next year's team looks like. It used to be that when you had a bad season, you could point to the future, have an idea of who would be on the roster, and theoretically see how the ship might be righted. Now, nothing is really certain until school starts and the athletes are actually on campus. And even then, a returning starter who you hoped would be the heart and leader of the team might decide to redshirt the day of the first game. The uncertainty of it all just makes this experience so much worse.

I mean, his offense has never been great but handing the keys to both the offense and defense to a couple of guys that barely need to shave is just insane.

I mean, I’m considering entering the fan portal 🤷🏼‍♂️

Safe to say the team didn't come together this year. Some really bad misevaluations out of the portal this year outside of Jake Davis. Can't deny this team has a lot of individual talent, but at this point in the season it's getting harder not to think that I just would have rather spent the year watching Ty, Sencire, and Amani in the Orange and Blue because I know they'd play their butts off when on the court.

Will and KJ will go to the NBA so with that said give me Morez, Tomi, and DGL back and I'm good.

Are folks dissatisfied with the program or mostly their personal role.

Well the only reason Morez, Ty and Tre are here was because of TA ... And they all didn't come here to sit the bench and get DNP - Coaches Decision ... And not start ... And redshirt ...

Booth is not a HM player ... I don't even need to discuss that one ... Jakstys ... Also not a HM player ...

KJ and Will are going to the NBA ...

Ben has another year if he wants it but it won't be here ...

DGL is playing better than Kylan and can barely touch the court ?? I'd transfer too ... Kid got recruited over and stuck it out and worked his butt off and has proven he has the fire when other guys don't and doesn't get rewarded for it ...

Everyone thought DGL was going to be the disloyal kid because he hopped around HS or whatever ... Kid is the most loyal dude on the team ... And doesn't get nearly enough love for it ... Kid just brings it ... Every time he's on the court ...

Going into tonight ... I would have set the line at 2.5 returners ...
Sorry Indy I like you and DB but just not true at all. The entire team has been hurt or ill the last month and a half. Most of the guys are really close and love it here, there will be several returners. Guys will also leave. I have never in my life seen what has happened to this team illness wise happen to any sports team before. If some of you guys knew the behind the scenes it's just insane

I mean... is this true or a manufactured narrative?

Just using Occam's razor here, it would explain a lot. In particular, it is about the only sensible way to explain why Brad is so calm about this if he legitimately feels powerless as disease runs rampant through the team.

But it's also been 2 months, and the things going around right now (flu, norovirus) generally don't do that.

Brad is slowly turning into Cal ... I am starting to see it more and more ...
Brad must still have that fire.
He’s only been head coach at a high major for a short # of years, relative to others. I cannot believe he waited this long for an opportunity to then just be content with life and coast. Something is going on but I have not figured it out. Could be anything- staff, players, physical status, mental status, something is preventing him to put stress on the team.

We all knew they were going to lose. That's the thing. They played like it.

The defense is just brutal: they can't stop anyone, so they need to shoot 90% from the field to keep it close.

Where are the stops? Easy baskets when a much-needed stop would help.

Saw this coming a mile away. Excuses, excuses, excuses. We know we’re injured and sick, don’t need to mention it every time we lose, don’t mention it all when we win though. 🐱

Look I'm never gonna say I give up on these guys but it is beyond frustrating how easy the fixes for this team are yet either the coaching staff refuses to change things or the players just don't give a crap. I'm beyond sick of the possessions where we chuck a three with 20-28 seconds on the shot clock. This team has proven we can't shoot the three without at least a ball rotation and even then we're still pretty bad. Why are Kylan, Ben, Tomi, and Jake Davis stepping into three point shots 2 feet beyond the arc without at least three passes in the possession??? I've heard so much crap about the analytics showing if we shoot and get offensive rebounds that's the strength of this team but what about when we have a player like Ben shooting under 35% on threes hucking a prayer with 26 left on the possession? Analytically...how is that not looked at as turnover more than two thirds of the time???? We've demonstrated we can easily get inside with drives which can be kicked out to shooters (and then whatever, shoot the open three) but why do over 50% of our shots continue to be from three when we are the second worst three-point shooting team in the Big Ten? Analytically...someone please try and make sense of this for me. I'll never rip the hustle or effort of our guys and I love this team through thick and thin but I'm not sure I've ever seen a team with this talent be wasted like this and I'm just not sure if it's the coaches or the players at this point.
The problem is, you're describing Underwood's coaching philosophy - score in under 7 seconds.

Ten years ago that sounds exciting to us, because we had a team with no point guards who struggled to put up 70 night after night, usually requiring a heroic performance from a combo guard running the point out of necessity.

But you see now what type of team that can produce. If you don't have a lot of strong shooters, you have to run real offense because you can't get that under-7 bucket. Now add in players who haven't played with each other for more than six months.

And no, it's not a given that teamwork improves over that period. If it did, there'd never truly bad teams.

Our bigger problem right now is defense. Ben is awful. On at least two possessions tonight, he was completely outmatched physically. On the first, he needed leverage and so put his back foot directly behind him, like someone pushing a broken down car into a parking lot. That led to a quick move by the attacker which Ben couldn't get in front of. On the other, he was simply thrown backward by a charging attacker. That's the game for every offense we play. Find Ben. Exploit him. And when they try to help, you have an open shooter. On another play, Crowl was playing booty ball against Ivisic, which led to a pass out to the top of the key. Ben is for some reason standing in the semicircle, seven feet from the shooter. No man's land. Trey. Another momentum break. Dra got beat on the drive a couple times too.

Assuming Will and KJ are gone, gimme Morez, Ivisic, DGL. Solid core to build around. It's those three that are the only ones that resemble the mentality you need on this team.

If we lose some of the others (white, ben, bos)... it's not good for continuity, but they've been really, really underwhelming this season. Very frustrating.

Of course, probably unlikely those three are back but if I just had to select...

Why did Davis start then? And take shots?
