I'm fine with Boswell back too. I just don't know if he will get back to being a 38% 3 point shooter though.

Sorry Indy I like you and DB but just not true at all. The entire team has been hurt or ill the last month and a half. Most of the guys are really close and love it here, there will be several returners. Guys will also leave. I have never in my life seen what has happened to this team illness wise happen to any sports team before. If some of you guys knew the behind the scenes it's just insane
The team has had the flu for a very long time...does not seem to have impacted other teams anywhere near as much. I work for a hospital system, we've been full capacity so I am not doubting the potential for impact, but curious about the disparity

Rare poster here. Although my glass is empty, I’m going to try and make it metaphorically half full.

I realized about 4 minutes in to the second half that my attitude towards this game was similar to my expectations during the Ole Miss exhibition game (given the situation with our frontcourt). As such, there were none. I watched, and didn’t watch while I did things around the house. I removed all emotions and was prepared to accept a 30 point loss or whatever happened.

While tonight’s performance was not ideal, there are similarities in that Dra and Tre were re-integrated in to the lineup (somewhat along the lines with a “new team”). I don’t know to the extent of what has happened behind the scenes this year and what the mental state of the players is, but I’m trying to stay optimistic that this was a necessary outcome to rebuilding mid season and preparing for the final stretch of the year.

I’m fully prepared for not winning another game this year. But I think we can all agree we need more than a 6 man rotation to make anything out of this rollercoaster of a season. If this is what it takes, then chalk tonight up to a step in the right direction.

Alongside DGL, Morez, and Coleman (pay him instead of the new guys). Probably keep Luke too since you recruited over him. That would’ve been a rock solid EDG culture team that would physically and mentally chewed this team up.

The offense was built around Tomi and KJ. Both have been injured, one has been sick, one is just horrible right now. Without set plays, there is nothing to "run."

The others players gotta be upset. Unless their number gets called they're going to be spectators on the offensive end but expected to fight their heart out on the defensive side.

This tailspin continues and don’t think you’ll see many returning.

Lots of coaching problems especially defensively. It sucks *** right now but the sun will come up. Every program is going to go through a stretch like this or a year like this at some point. I saw some really good individual things from DGL and Ben today, shout out to them. Tomi is deathly ill and he ain't the only one. KJ needs to be better, he was truly pathetic today. Just awful. Just gotta hope you win a couple and get healthy for the tourney. As far as next year goes: Morez, Tomi, Jake, Kylan, DGL are all guys I think they will work to retain. Feel good about the first four and we will see on the fifth. Ben will be depending on if he wants to take a lesser role. Remember these are college kids, and I am telling you guys this team has been ravaged behind the scenes will sickness

The problem is, you're describing Underwood's coaching philosophy - score in under 7 seconds.

Ten years ago that sounds exciting to us, because we had a team with no point guards who struggled to put up 70 night after night, usually requiring a heroic performance from a combo guard running the point out of necessity.

But you see now what type of team that can produce. If you don't have a lot of strong shooters, you have to run real offense because you can't get that under-7 bucket. Now add in players who haven't played with each other for more than six months.

And no, it's not a given that teamwork improves over that period. If it did, there'd never truly bad teams.

Our bigger problem right now is defense. Ben is awful. On at least two possessions tonight, he was completely outmatched physically. On the first, he needed leverage and so put his back foot directly behind him, like someone pushing a broken down car into a parking lot. That led to a quick move by the attacker which Ben couldn't get in front of. On the other, he was simply thrown backward by a charging attacker. That's the game for every offense we play. Find Ben. Exploit him. And when they try to help, you have an open shooter. On another play, Crowl was playing booty ball against Ivisic, which led to a pass out to the top of the key. Ben is for some reason standing in the semicircle, seven feet from the shooter. No man's land. Trey. Another momentum break. Dra got beat on the drive a couple times too.
Look I can't hate Ben but I agree...if this team is going to do anything in March he's much better off in a 7th or 8th man role and ideally he has a game or two where he torches 4-5 threes...relying on anything more than that from him with his inability to compete on defense and were asking for 6-0, 7-0, 8-0 runs every game just by a team exploiting him while he defends.

assuming KJ and Will go to the nba. who the hell would anyone want back thats not named tomi morez davis or dra

Embarrassing performance from KJ.

6 points
7 turnovers
0 assists
I didn't realize it was that bad.

He's just not good right now. He's not even below average. If he was a non factor, that would be an upgrade. He's been a detriment. There can be no argument about that.

The kid is a glass case of emotions, which is why Brad doesn't lose it.

I mean, in four years in college, I never had the flu or missed a class once. It just doesn't compute that a team of top conditioned, well nourished athletes are all sick for two months. I mean, I really don't get it. But, I'm certainly not privy to the behind the scenes. Just incredible.

Well, the easy answer is that other teams aren't in close proximity to our players like our players are to each other.

Another issue: we have had several instances where players have played through the flu. Taking off my "be tough and play through the pain" hat, that should never have been allowed to happen if for no other reason than it seems more likely than not to spread the flu to other players.

They don't need to go full COVID, obviously. Just keep sick players out of the locker room and let them rest at home. Make them rest at home. That's the part I can't understand.
