Sorry Indy I like you and DB but just not true at all. The entire team has been hurt or ill the last month and a half. Most of the guys are really close and love it here, there will be several returners. Guys will also leave. I have never in my life seen what has happened to this team illness wise happen to any sports team before. If some of you guys knew the behind the scenes it's just insane
I believe this, I have no interest in listening to Sean Miller’s biggest cheerleader. I fully expect Tre White, Booth, KJ, Riley, and Rodgers to all be gone. None of those would be a surprise imo. Morez, Ivisic, Davis, and maybe Boswell all staying would make sense

We look like a team that hasn’t practiced together much the last month. Feel like a lot of KJs turnovers tonight were on miscommunications.

Also, not sure anyone is winning in Madison with Tonje playing like that. Step back 3 after step back 3.

Hopefully get healthy and see if we can go on a run in March.

Why did Davis start then? And take shots?

I came down with the flu around 2/7. Tried toughing it out/stayed active over that weekend. Got worse and was curled up in a ball for 48-72 hours that week. Started to turn a bit of a corner around Valentine's Day/day after. Was still fatigued and weak. Had my first true good work out today. To compete in practices and high level basketball games with this sh*t is truly unimaginable. Do Brad, the staff and players need to be better about a variety of things? 100%. But I will go to bat for Brad on this one.

From the game thread:

"My job is developing leaders and building culture in large organizations. I have used, in the past, BU as an example. I take it back. I've been a HUGE supporter of BU, but I just jumped off the bandwagon. I could latch back on, but is it too little, too late?

So much talent, with little results. Methinks BU is a good CEO, but has not put good peeps around him this year. So frustrated. Top draft prospect that fails most games...that is coaching. Good players roding the pine...that is coaching. I'm done."

Lots of coaching problems especially defensively. It sucks *** right now but the sun will come up. Every program is going to go through a stretch like this or a year like this at some point. I saw some really good individual things from DGL and Ben today, shout out to them. Tomi is deathly ill and he ain't the only one. KJ needs to be better, he was truly pathetic today. Just awful. Just gotta hope you win a couple and get healthy for the tourney. As far as next year goes: Morez, Tomi, Jake, Kylan, DGL are all guys I think they will work to retain. Feel good about the first four and we will see on the fifth. Ben will be depending on if he wants to take a lesser role. Remember these are college kids, and I am telling you guys this team has been ravaged behind the scenes will sickness
Bingo ... Tomi didn't even travel with the team ... He drove up to Madison today ...
Then Brad needs to be a grown-a** adult and tell him to stay home! What good is it letting him trot out there at 25% while infecting the rest of the team? Same for DGL playing with flu earlier. What in the Sam Hill are they even doing?

I think Wisconsin (politely) declined to shake hands due to what's gone through our team with the sickness.
Then Greg Gard is more intelligent than Brad Underwood.

I mean, look... if we had sat 2 or 3 players back in January when they first got the flu and told them to stay home, we would have been at full strength again in a week and a half or so. Maybe we lose a game or 3 in the process, but we have now dropped a lot more winnable games than that.

Underwood = Weber. Has the talent. But cannot coach. Next coach better have Xs and Os. Cmon Whitman!!!!

Well, the easy answer is that other teams aren't in close proximity to our players like our players are to each other.

Another issue: we have had several instances where players have played through the flu. Taking off my "be tough and play through the pain" hat, that should never have been allowed to happen if for no other reason than it seems more likely than not to spread the flu to other players.

They don't need to go full COVID, obviously. Just keep sick players out of the locker room and let them rest at home. Make them rest at home. That's the part I can't understand.
But they are in proximity to other people, the public, they're on college campuses, that has been hit with the flu. The flu isn't exclusive to the Illini men's basketball team, but the Illini men's basketball team seems to be unique in their ability to not manage the situation.

Thank you for the insight. That makes a lot of sense based on what we saw today. It’s easy to forget how young these guys are too.

Wisconsin's season FT % is 83.7% (Highest all time has been 83.0%)
And we held them to 77.3% FT
So our FT defense was excellent!

I am clearly beyond depression and into some sick humor world...
Also, I have a mountain lion and her cub in and out of my back yard waiting to eat my dog, so that helps take the seriousness of this game down a notch.

The really dispiriting aspect of all of this is that I have no idea what next year's team looks like. It used to be that when you had a bad season, you could point to the future, have an idea of who would be on the roster, and theoretically see how the ship might be righted. Now, nothing is really certain until school starts and the athletes are actually on campus. And even then, a returning starter who you hoped would be the heart and leader of the team might decide to redshirt the day of the first game. The uncertainty of it all just makes this experience so much worse.
Beautifully put my friend. I agree completely.

I read elsewhere that the Illinois plasyers left the court and did not shake hands due to the illnesses.

I've heard so many excuses for the mass exodus of players and coaches in our program.. especially players that could be valuable to this team.. and it's usually "well this is the new transfer world or NIL world"... But then I look at our football squad and our women's team and they sure as hell have figured out how to keep players and how to build culture.. They say family and I believe it- what kind of family has Brad built??? Serious question
