Tonje is a fluid, powerful athlete with good agility and balance. He also has very good footwork and a smooth shooting form that he reliably repeats.

KB isn't as big, and doesn't have much lift in his game at all. That hinders him when he tries to score around the basket. He also often hesitates on releasing his somewhat stiff'-looking jump shot, and that hesitation usually results in the shot being short.

Weirdly, KB's judgement is spotty too. He makes odd decisions that result in turnovers and missed shots, at a rate that surprises me for an experienced PG.

You seriously throwing out LeBum as an example? That’s rich. Please, tell us you don’t know what you’re talking about without saying you don’t know what you’re talking about

Well, not exactly…it seems like he was trying to hedge his bets, a little by bringing in Kylan, and Ben and Tre…who had some decent college minutes…BUT ultimately they were a mixed bag and had certain deficiencies.
He thought he’d supplement the Eastern Block guys with dudes who had college experience…at different times tho. It did seem like the fresh start for these guys was working out…then dysfunction started rearing its ugly head….again.

Yes…a bewildering assortment of injuries and sickness…yes they’re young and inexperienced…but let’s be honest-not THAT young and inexperienced.
To blame all the failings of this team on youth is a bit much.

The plan we were told was a 2 year plan…so we could build for next year…and now here we are again…another needed overhaul apparently…
Several players will be replaced but they have guys they can actually build around this time, which is a big difference from last offseason

KJ is making quite a few turnovers that the defense is NOT causing him to make. It's weird.

I wonder if tonight, one of the reasons KJ didn't score much is that his partner in the high pick & roll, Tomi, wasn't effective or on the floor a lot. But that's only one thing. Extending that idea, I wonder if the makeshift lineups and clearly different spacing on offense tonight didn't help KJ with facilitating and getting open.

Yeah but that assumes they've been sick with the same thing the whole time.
Yep, true. I wonder who Tomi caught Mono from and if it's possible that he passed it on to one or more team mates and that info has not been released?
Brad says "sick" a lot but usually doesn't give a lot of detail.

I for one don’t see these insane comparisons between KJ and curbelo. KJ will succeed at the next level because he has everything outside of his one flaw which can be fixed. Whether Illinois gets that improvement or not nba teams will. They recruit on potential and KJ has sky high potential. He’s had a rough game and I was wanting to bang my head against the wall with some of what he did today but he also won us the game last week.

Beyond this if this team is truly so ill maybe forfeit the duke game and take a week to get healthy and whole again.

Brad squarely holds the blame for every mistake that has been made this season from letting these Tyler hamer and Kwa run stuff to the lack of adjustments. Having eureka moments in press conferences in February is unacceptable at this level. Also this flu stuff should’ve been dealt with aggressively with quarantining for a week or so instead of letting it make its way through Ubben.

Yeah people are really down on KJ after a bad game when he's surrounded by a terribly incomplete team. That potential he's shown doesn't just go away.

Brad has lost control over his team. Whatever the causes -- sickness, injuries, playing time, effort issues, head cases, youth, stubborness, player decision making, staff problems -- he has no answers and probably cannot even put together useful practices anymore between games.

I've seen bad Illinois teams, but none from the highs (and potential) to lows of this one. Just makes me sad to be honest.

Still holding out hope that illness and injury is the main cause and we play decent basketball at some point down the stretch.

So Tomi was sick enough to not travel with the team but was then ok to play after driving hours to get to the game and try to go? I don’t get that one bit. If he wasn’t good to travel then you need him to get better. Yea we have no center then but come on, still lost by 20 and potentially made his recovery that much longer.

That’s literally not what he said. He responded on a question about getting confidence from a good game and said that helps but whether he touches the court for 5 minutes or not at all his confidence comes from the work he puts in outside of games.

To me, he seems frustrated with the results and the team not being healthy. I think everyone is top to bottom lol.

I'm not sure what everyone was expecting here. Injured and apparently sick Tomi. No Morez. Davis is throwing up pre game and can't return because he's too sick. 2.5 guys down and you now rely on a guy you refused to play at all and a guy you barely play.

This is exactly what I figured would happen, especially after I heard about Tomi. Valiant effort to make it close for a bit in the second, but obviously we didn't have the legs.

Even if this is all true regarding illnesses, it's just bad roster construction and too many bad evals. A fully healthy and uninjured team probably looks really good at this point in the season with a few less losses. The biggest concern now is whether we can come back from it at all even if we are fully healthy. Morale seems at rock bottom, and I don't think there's enough time to right the ship. Hopefully we can get healthy and find a spark.

The Badgers beat us at our own style of play. The new look Badgers for sure! They moved the ball with crisp passing and cut hard to the basket. They shot 41%
from behind the arc and we shot 33% (Not bad for us). They beat us on the offensive rebounds 13-9. They shot over 50% for the game. I missed Morez..
I have really been missing Ty. I think he would be the leader we need. Hoping we are back to health by the conference tourney. And yes, I am going to buy one of TSJ's t-shirts. Love that young man.

This is what frustrates me the most as a fan and I can’t imagine how infuriating it is as a player. You have players like DGL, Riley and Morez that are giving you great mins but for the longest time couldn’t get any playing time.

Brad plays favorites and if you’re not one of his favorites there isn’t much you can do to see playing time.

BU continually saying "I'm not making excuses" and then talking about having so many guys sick or injured is the equivalent of saying "no offense but" and then insulting someone.

Who is running the show here? from BUs presser it sounds like Tomi drove up today because he thought he could play so it's as if sick players are being allowed to dictate if they are playing and subjecting the rest of the team to illness. I understand they probably feel like they're letting their team down if they don't play through it but at some point you have to protect them from themselves and think of the best interest of your team and tell them to stay away and not allow them to put the rest of the team at risk of contracting the sickness. If it is team doctors OK-ing this and telling BU they arent contagious or something, I don't quite understand why they are saying this because it is very obvious that things are being passed on to other members of the team.
