Should be interesting if Caitlin comes back for 5th year. She gets more money from NIL state farm then max wnba 230k. Not sure Iowa is real threat to win NCAA this year. Should have hot transfer portal for some bigs. Iowa coach is old school.

Could she maximize her earnings by testing the transfer portal?

Can’t see her doing that. She is an Iowa girl. Could have gone to Duke, Stanford or UConn. I could see her asking for Messi type contract outside of league salary cap to come out this year.

I hope she doesn't come back. It will come down to if she wants to play another year of college, not $$$. She is the #1 pick now and would love to see her play against the best instead of sticking around the collegiate game another season. NIL now/endorsements later she is set either way and make more on that than on the court. It basically comes down to if she wants to chase a National Championship at Iowa.

Iowa has a monster class coming in. Iowa made the Championship game last season and top 3 odds favorite to win this season. Iowa is a threat but I don't think they win it.

Is there a site where they provide recruiting class rankings for women's basketball?

Her boyfriend Connor McCaffery(barf), on the staff for the Indiana Pacers

Never looked so not sure

I just know Iowa has some major talent coming in by name and seen number of them play. Aaliyah Guyton, Ava Heiden, Taylor Stremlow and Teagan Mallegni. I have no idea on numbers but my guess is all of them are top 100-125 range(at worst). None of them are probably ranked top of the class talent(like it even matters) but that is an A ranked class they brought in.

Agree either NIL in college or endorsements as a pro will beat the what she makes on the court.

But I'm not sure I equate the two against each other. CC is absolutely the face of women's college ball and unquestionably the best ever, all-time scorer, etc. They put her in graphics next to Pistol Pete. I think her $$$ potential is far higher with NIL than as a more generic top-20 player in the WBNA.

Even if she attained status as the #1 WNBA player, I still think that means less $$$ opportunity, unless maybe the NBA can promote some cross-over thing to try to recoup some of the tens of millions they have lost on the WNBA.

Edit to say I meant to reply to @GILL-INOIS.

Yeah I think most of us agree with she will make more money off the court whether Iowa/WNBA

Honestly Clark is just something different we haven't seen in the ladies game. The NBA game has changed and the way Clark plays resembles more of the NBA game now.

Clark is the face for the women's collegiate game. Not saying it will happen but if the WNBA markets it correctly she might be the face for the WNBA plus a worldwide market. WNBA has paid less than the international market(still will) but they are slowly trying to increase the payscale. No better time than bringing in possibly the biggest star ever. I don't watch much WNBA but I would be onboard watching more if Clark is playing.

Like recruits from high school to college to the professional level....just never know until the time comes. I think Clark will excel

Iowa sells out all CClark games at home 15,500 and this season have been selling out routinely on road. WNBA draws a lot worse with Indiana at the bottom. Why trade being a rock star in Iowa City for the drudgery of 40 WNBA regular season games, flying commercial, and probably get beat up on the court by jealous opponents?

If that is your logic, why would she do it at all? Should she go overseas? She can get paid more overseas and more luxury if so.

Forgot to answer your question. The one thing I agree about is flying commercial. WNBA has needed to change that for many years.

She has a win/win decision either way. It's not about money or being a star....already has money and a star if stays or goes professional. Clark enjoys college, enjoys playing close to home and with teammates, trying for a championship and likely would go for Master's Degree if she comes back another season.

If she leaves will be #1 pick, play against the best competition in the world, play in same city as boyfriend, endless endorsements. We all know if Clark gets drafted by the Indiana Fever they won't be next to last in attendance anymore. WNBA has a generational player in Clark they can market to the world. I hope the league capitalizes when Clark gets drafted this April or next.

More curious if she will make the Olympic team than the college decision. Not about her talent, but about having enough spots and bringing in a young gun when bunch of others are already training. JMO but Clark is good enough and would get this team that has dominated with Gold more exposure in Paris.

After the NCAA's latest loss in the courts regarding NIL compensation rules (Tennessee NIL kerfuffle), I have to ask the question - what's stopping Iowa from signing Clark to a 5-year, $15 million NIL deal? Or longer for more money? And she can take a bunch of graduate school classes to stay "eligible". It makes too much sense to say no one is thinking about it. Ditto for Zach Edey at Purdue. Both could make more money as a 10-year fixture at their respective schools than their professional alternatives.

I am sure an Olympic gold medal would be very attractive to Caitlin. TV would love to showcase her.
JMO- if I was Caitlin I would go to coach and say I want to stay and win an NCAA title for Iowa. But you need to take the revenue from 15,000 tickets x 20 home games = $3M incremental income and go get the team a 6'6" center and 6'4" power forward in transfer portal or I don't come back. Iowa got killed in final 4 last season by SC and LSU bigs. The Iowa bigs this year are still small by Top 10 standards.

The career scoring records she would set would be untouchable.

If Mahomes is getting $10 million per brand. Caitlin is getting at least a couple million from State Farm. $900k estimate from ON3 algorithm for Caitlin is way off.

Right now she is the most recognizable female athlete in USA. Serena Williams is retired. Simon Biles retired and came back but its not an olympic year so who watches gymastics. Alex Morgan is a shadow of her prime and is retiring.

Yeah no one is touching her scoring record EVER if she plays 5 complete seasons

Her range and ability to just stop and shoot are second to none for women I have seen in college/professionally. She is a playmaker whether she shoots or passes. If Clark would decide to play a long WNBA career and have the fortune of staying healthy....I could see her being the all-time leading scorer in college and WNBA and top 5 all-time in assists in both college and WNBA.

Interesting dilema for Caitlin. Why play in WNBA for peanuts $75k to $200k. Her NIL is 7 figures already.
She could be like Wilt and join the Harlem Globetrotters? Play overseas ? Tryout for NBA?
If I was her agent I would negotiate a Messi type deal that is independent of WNBA pay scale salary cap. She has maximium leverage this year as she can go back to Iowa. I am sure WNBA wants her NOW.

Silver & Gold Vandals
Caitlin Clark & #6 Iowa at Minny 8pm on Peacock today. Caitlin only needs 51 points to beat Pistol Pete's NCAA all time scoring mark.

Peter Maravich

Caitlin Clark -41% of her points are from 3 pointers , remove the extra point since Pete did not get credit for 3 pointers and Caitlin PPG falls to 24 ppg.

JMO - Caitlin is a great player but in no way does she approach Pete.
