That's likely accurate...and you were watching a MVC-level and quality team. Their play would have been light years less than a top-tier team of that time. When I was in college in the early/mid 90s, I went to many women’s games at my MVC alma matter because I was friends with most of the team.
What they played vs what you see right now and especially last night, is night and day. They looks like a high school girls JV team in comparison.
You must have missed the Illini/Iowa game!Spot on!
There are certain players/coaches I enjoy on the court but care less about some of their stances off the court....Mulkey fits the bill for me
Iowa/South Carolina game was most exciting women's basketball game I watched in many years
Someone said $1 million from Nike.I wonder how much NIL Clark gets?
Makes sense.I just read up about it - she and the athletic department has an arrangement with one or more fashion designers for her to wear these outfits on the court side at games .
it’s her thing and she pulls it off .
and her teams win while she does it
CC is special, as in Magic and Bird special. But, Bill Walton’s performance in the championship game 50 years ago was the greatest sports performance I have ever seen.Rooting for Caitlin Clark is 100% acceptable for an Illini fan, and I would encourage everyone to watch, as she put on a display yesterday that was potentially the best performance by a college player (men or women) ever in a final four. Iowa was clearly outmatched, but Clark can't be stopped-- you have to guard against ridiculous three point shots, so you guard her close and she has the handle to drive past, and she makes great passes. I've never really watched women's basketball, but it is amazing to watch her.
Same occurrence for me. I too became hooked on the Illini Women & Coach Green and even Caitlin Clark during this game. Paid out another $10 for BIG+ monthly just to catch all the games. You must have missed the Illini/Iowa game!
Now THAT was exciting! We held Caitlin to 32 points… because she was in foul trouble… and fouled out. Our girls played the game if their life (up until now) to win!
Hooked me on our team and coach.
That's a pretty hot take. First--chucker? She's a 47% shooter and 38% from 3 and hasn't attempted more than 28 shots in a game this year until tonight (31).If this was the Iowa men's team and Clark was dude everyone here would hate him. He's a chucker, an inefficient volume scoring ball hog. "He's got a punchable face." She scores 30 a game but on 40 shots. Maybe I'm just letting my Iowa hate get in the way but this is nothing but bad for an Illinois team trying to rise up right now.
Nope saw it. That is more than fine if it got you hooked on the Ilini ladies team from the Iowa vs Illini game. I was already on the roller coaster before that game. The Iowa/South Carolina game will get a lot of people interested in the women's game on the national spotlight. You must have missed the Illini/Iowa game!

I have to admit I am addicted to womens BB ........The lady Fighting Illini having a great season renewed my interest but this years NCAA tourney for the women has been such a treat to watch....I'll be shelling out the money for the BTN + this fall for sure.....It's great to see a pretty full house for the Championship. Women's hoops is so much fun to watch, and a great reminder of what good, crisp, team basketball looks like.
