but imagine it like this - no actual line on the border, no alternating light and dark 5 yard stripes, no block I or state outline at the 50 but, dark green inside the border, light green outside the border really, no one else thinks it is at least an interesting idea? we have no more chief, we have a complete lack of any kind of traditional symbol or historical icon or image to associate with the school or football team. it seems like they want to halfway embrace the state outline (assembly hall and now memorial stadium), but i say why go halfway? go all out. our state is shaped by 3 of the most important/historical waterways of the US, lake michigan, the mississippi and the ohio. it makes a readymade symbol without making up some garbage generic idea like the "prairie fire" and it still would embrace the idea of the illini i mean i did not expect everyone to think it was the best idea ever, but no one thinks it could be cool at all?

what do we have like 90% of the student body and alums that are actually from IL? you would basically be looking at a map of the state while watching the game. recruits see it when we upset OSU at home, tell them we are locking down the borders, etc. hey, i know i prob sem crazy ranting about this while i am drunk, but i think it would be a unique thing and could be cool if done right |

when you are being paid by the square foot, and not by the hour, it is amazing how fast a guy can get it done. JUst about all union and non union carpet or tile or flooring installers are paid piece meal. The contractor who these guys work for has a set price, but if his guys wanna work fast and get it done quick, and get a free day off, more power to them.

I wish they would just use that solid orange for the end zones. Cool old school feel to them. No slant Illinois. I always liked how the Rantoul practice helmets look too. |

So is the west side now officially the home side? Or just the TV side?

Cosign to that. I'd be fine if they just left it the way it looks now.

I know it's not something too terribly significant but I also like the different font we are using for the numbers along the sides of the field.

I think it's looking really good! Love the bright orange. I'm still a little iffy about the state in the middle of the field, but I might just need to get use to it.

That green seems too dark to me.
Would a player in dark blue stand out on that field? |

Looking at Dan's photos, it appears the lower left of the block I maybe isn't sticking out of the state outline?? (which I like)...
Regarding the zig-zag in the EZs, I like. Maybe you could put them at the back to alleviate any potential issues with breaking the plane. As long as there is a distinct change in color between in-bounds and out-of-bounds (in your concept, maybe a foot or so of blue against the OOB white) then I think it could work. |

Dan (or someone else), can someone put a side by side of the old setup and the new setup?
Were the sidelines always orange? Don't remember it that way. |

Hmm, I made a post a few hours ago which dissapeared. Anyway, I like what I see so far. The only thing I would change to to make the stroke on the state outline thinner, similar to the yardlines. Also, we can't really get an idea of what the field will look like from these pictures because it has been so overcast the last week. Still, I like what I see.
