No, the team always spent 2 weeks in Rantoul (at least under the Zook regime)

When Beckman was hired, I remember him saying the wanted to keep some of the Rantoul tradition but also wanted to spend time practicing at Memorial Stadium.

Unfortunately for fans, only the first week (the Rantoul week) will be open to the public.

Fortunately for the football team, they're only doing 1 week in public. New system, new schemes.. better to keep some of it secret.

If they had their way (unfortunate for the public/fans, BUT) they would keep it all closed just to keep their plays/schemes secret.

For comparison- Last year, the first 3 days of practice were held at Memorial Stadium, the rest was at Camp Rantoul, and everything was open to the public. That there's a bit of a phase-out of Rantoul and more secrecy this year, I'm good. Beat Western Michigan!

I was gonna say I know Dan and GHD are ecstatic that we are moving away from Rantoul:laugh:

One more thing, SO happy that we can finally start talking about real football news and the WM game...sooooo close!!!!

Haha, definitely AHS. Personally, I'm a little bummed because I was hoping to drive down for a Rantoul practice Week 2 like I did last summer (as I can't make Week 1).

But I'm all for keeping things more close to the vest and focusing on beating Western Michigan!

I bet they will go back up to Rantoul next year for two weeks... There's a reason why NFL teams do this.

Pro teams are different than college kids. And not every pro team leaves their hometown for camp.

In college, I'd rather have my guys around my facilities as much as possible.

I bet they won't.

It's more likely that they'll revamp their on-campus facilities and stay in C-U than it is that they'll go 2 weeks in Rantoul.

I'm starting to get into watch-a-bunch-of-highlight-videos-from-last-year mode.

As soon as that calendar turns to August I can't wait anymore.

LET'S GET IT!!!!!!
