Follow-up: Is Lyle really a PG? (Scout has him there)

I would say more of a combo. He definitely is a playmaker.
I think he would be best matched up with a true PG allowing him to play off the ball a majority of the time and create from the wing. I have seen Frank Williams comparisons thrown out there, more in terms of style of play, size, etc. Lyle does not have the handles of Frank though. |

I think outside of the scenario of getting Jackson and Ennis, a back court of one of those two and Lyle is pretty much the dream scenario for us through 2014. If you added KBD and a 5 to this, I think we are setting ourselves up for a fantastic few years. I wonder if Lyle's visit will influence how hard Groce goes after another guard or not in 2013, and if he does, how that will affect Lyle's recruitment?

Trey Lyles
may have been posted in another thread, but this is the first mention I have seen of us being involved with Trey Lyles:
http://keepingitheel.com/2012/08/12/...it-trey-lyles/ Lyles has insisted that Indiana is still #1 on his list as he opens things back up. Kentucky, Syracuse, Illinois, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Duke and Georgetown according to sources, are all after the Indianapolis top prospect. |

Recruiting is a results-oriented business (no big secret). It's way too early to make a definitive judgement on our staff's recruiting, but I am increasingly impressed with their recruiting acumen. We are getting looks (and apparently hard looks) from prospects who wouldn't have given us the time of day a short while ago. If Groce closes as well (or better) than his track record suggests, we will be back soon. |

Lyle is probably my top 2014 guard that I want. Guy would be perfect to complement Jackson in the future.

Tidbits:
Tommy Hamilton, 2013 C, may be attending IMG Academy in Bradenton, FLA this fall instead of Whitney Young. http://yourseason.suntimes.com/home/...ves-young.html Wes Clark, 2013 PG, is visiting MSU tomorrow. https://twitter.com/NBESports DMac's younger brother. Glynn Watson, 2015 PG, is on campus today for a visit. https://twitter.com/Sturdy32 |

I think getting Lyle would be a bit of a coup, but I think Illinois is a serious contender if they make some noise on the recruiting trail. __________________ If you die in an elevator, be sure to push the Up button. |

I would agree with you that for Jackson, it's a perfect "storm" opportunity. However, you and I are both big Illini fans. It's quite possible that a kid that grew up for near South Bend, Indiana might not tend to view things the way you and I do. |

Right but I don't say that as a fan, I say that as reality and objectively how it is. The kid loves the potential opportunity that's available to him here. He's not attached to Notre Dame the way many kids in that area are. They've recruited him the longest and have great relationships with him, but he's not dying to go to Notre Dame. if he was, he would have committed already. that doesn't mean he won't go there, but he's not a notre dame "fan". __________________ If you die in an elevator, be sure to push the Up button. |

I mean, obviously he could end up there for other reasons (be near family, etc.), but this disproves the most talked-about rationale for him going there. |

That is a very lofty dream. Almost the dream, of a dream, within another dream, kind of dream. |

If we land a Hoosier, why can't we land another? (it's a new day)
KBD wants to be an Illini (I think) Alexander is a pipe dream, but I'm guessing Jackson-Lyle-Henry-Hill-KBD will get his attention. All Groce has to do is make it happen. ;-) |
