I'm been thinking the same thing. Those Bama defenders are big AND fast AND physical. If a little guy like DR does a lot of running, they are going to give him a real beating.

UNLV has some pretty good talent at RB and at the defensive back positions - they are a feisty bunch. They were only down by 1 TD against Boise State at halftime last year (they got destroyed in the second half - hooray for coaching adjustments!). Minnesota only went 3-9 last year themselves. It won't surprise me if UNLV pulls the upset.

They will have to catch him first -- and he is faster than fast, and elusive. This will be a test of whether he can succeed in the same position at the next level so I think he will be up for the game even more ....

I like Bama to beat the spread --mind you, I'm not a gambler. Reason is simply watching Denard play over the years and his passing ability. I can see Bama containing him better than most, and that means he has to pass the ball
![]() That said, 14 is a crazy amount of points for a top-10 team to give. |

Stayed home today to do some painting around the house, we're going to try to list our condo some time in September. I threw on Rudy in the background to get prepared for tonight's games. In no way am I even remotely an ND fan, but growing up in Joliet its a movie that always gets me choked up.

UCF just totally blew the pants off Akron. Why that's important? They're playing an un-tested OSU team next week, and if they can put up 56 points against a mediocre defense, they can put up 21 against the buckeyes. Meaning the UCF-OSU game next week could be a closer game than expected...

For those interested:
Chandler Whitmer(UCONN): 15-25 for 219 yards. 0 TD & 2 INTS. vs. UMass. Also, UNLV is beating Minnesota 3-0. It's still early though |

ASu is beating the crap out of Northern Arizona 35-0 at the half. Mike Leach is off to a slow start at Wash St (down 17-3 almost at the half).

Refs missed a pretty big pass interference call on 4th down at the end of the game. Looked like they may have won if not for that bad call
PS - DJ Swearinger was the player who broke up/interfered with the Vandy WR on the final play, we recruited him out of Spartanburg,SC a while back |

BYU destroyed Washington State University 30-6 to spoil Mike Leach's first game back. In all of the scrimmages, the WSU offense looked like world beaters racking up yards and points. Against BYU they couldn't score a touchdown.

I saw the first drive + for WSU and thought "damn they look pretty good". I was surprised to wake up and see they only scored 3 more points after I turned it off early in the first.

Wow...I was so wrong about Minny...they are brutal! That was one of the worst games I have ever seen. Both teams were so bad.
Marcus Lattimore was very...very good. So was Vandy. I knew Vandy would be improved but they are going to beat some teams this year. Wazzou will score points. They probably won't face an as disciplined defense as BYU is again this year. So they'll be able to break a couple big plays. BYU is tough and could have another 10 win season it seems. Also, bet of the year was BYU stomping Wazzou. That spread was so horrible based solely on Leach. Either way I will now have an even nicer tailgate tomorrow

UNLV was picked second to last in the Mountain West this year. Minnie ends up winning in 3 OT's 30-27.
I thought BYU looked pretty good. Their defense looked very quick and the O looked sharp. |

The other strange thing... the other team chased him down as if he was running the right way. I guess everyone goes on instincts at some point.
