Yeah, the tournament posted on Twitter that he's there now and Cliff's game starts shortly. I didn't realize how big Cliff really is until someone posted a picture he took with him between games today. Holy smokes!

Saw the Curie-Simeon game this afternoon. Cliff was fantastic. He was mobile, great strength in the post, smooth touch on his shot, a natural shot blocker, and really seems to have a genuine enthusiasm for the game. He outplayed Jabari imo. In short, he is the real deal!

KN did not play his best game and JT was impressive with his quickness and ability to penetrate the lane. On a side note, Dayton is getting an extremely talented player in Pollard. The kid can elevate and finish with the best of them. Was a fun game to watch.

Curie beats Warren 53-45 to capture third place. Another big game for Cliff Alexander

Cliff Alexander finishes with 20 pts, 8 rebs and 3 blocks. Also had maybe the most impressive oop dunk I've seen a big man throw down

I was just checking out espn recruiting list for Illinois, I came across this name Tyler Wideman PF 6'7" 245 out of Lake Central High School in Merriville, IN. Just wondering if anyone has any updates on him?

Agreed...I was @ the game as well, and wow, Cliff is a beast! Tate has great vision and quickness. He will be a great addition to the point position for Illinois. Nunn started slowly in the afternoon game. But, took over and started driving in 4th qtr. Then stroked some 3's in the Championship game, along with great D and killer hops on a 3 quarter court alley-oop from Parker. As far as Pollard goes, many fans in the crowd were very surprised Pollard was only going to a Mid-Major (Dayton). He is a bit erratic at times with his dribble drive, but, has great touch off the glass (high banks) and can get up on the boards. He held his own very well vs Big Cliff! To finish about Cliff...besides his unbelievable talent, he is a hard worker on the boards and doesn't take plays off. He would be a HUGE get for the Illini. We can only hope Groce can win the recruiting battle. Time will tell...

LA Jr. will be a great CBB player someday, and at PG, and yes, he's proven the last 6 weeks that he is a PG imo. Saw him in Decatur over Thanksgiving and he ran the O for Lanphier and did everything a good PG does: play tough on-ball D, drive the lane, finish, dish, kick out, lead the break, finish in transition, create for himself and others, hit outside shots (his jumper is much improved and will only get better). Hopefully he'll be at UI. Looking forward to seeing him again next month in Springfield.

Good to hear overall, but honestly his jumper needs lots of work. i mean his free throw shooting is horrendous for a guard. His errors are correctable but you don't recruit him assuming he's going to correct them and be a good shooter. You hope he does that but you have to be happy with what you're getting otherwise. but he definitely seems to have enough there otherwise in that even if he never shoots it well he'll still be a decent college player

Simeon earn Pontiac 3-peat

"I think in the third quarter we just decided to pick it up," Tate said. "We had been sluggish and I think we may have underestimated them a bit."

Tate, an Illinois recruit, scored 12 points and dished out four assists. Fellow future Illini guard Kendrick Nunn added 11 points for Simeon (9-1). Illinois coach John Groce was in attendance.

"[The semi against Curie] was intense," Nunn said. "We were sore and banged up. Seeing [Groce] there gave us some extra energy."

Belleville East 52, Collinsville 33

Senior Malcolm Hill, who was named the tournament's most valuable player, scored 23 points and finished with 110 --nine shy of breaking the tournament record..

Hill's 3-pointer with 23 seconds to play in the semifinals temporarily put the Lancers ahead of East Side 40-39. But the Flyers won on senior Travon McCray's last-second jumper.

"Malcolm has been playing more aggressive and through the offense," Schrader said. "I'm glad he's on our team and I hope he continues to play hard and be more of a leader. We'll move on from here."

John Groce workin' it. He's older than me. Wish I had the energy he does.

I'd love to know what he said to Cliff.

Now that's what I call the full court press. Go get 'em Coach Groce! I know we are long shots but I'm glad Coach doesn't agree or seem to care.

Alexander would be a day 1 starter and make us a legitimate contender for that year.
