It has been a week since the job was posted, the minimum waiting period for an expedited search. If Cubit was the guy all along, there will probably be an announcement in the next day or two.

Do you think they will go ahead and announce it or wait and announce both him and Butkus' replacement at the same time since it sounds like they may have hired him already too?

I think they will announce it as soon as possible and get him involved in recruiting.

Usually recruits are the first to know of coaching changes. I remember Beckman was telling recruits Gonzales was going to be hired before his name was even rumored for the job.

Beatty was let go Sat, Jan 5th so the paperwork for the replacement hire probably went through on Monday, Jan 7th. Today would be 7 days from the announcement, and as I understand it that is the minimum time if they get a waiver for an expedited hire (regular time is 2 weeks).
It might take a day to process the contract, but I would guess that by tomorrow at the latest we have a new OC. __________________ ONLY ORANGE! |

Tell me again how NIU was able to announce a new head football coach the same day (or day after?) the previous coach left and the University of Illinois has to wait.

Might have something to do with the replacement being an internal candidate.

I'm guessing because they were in preparations for a bowl game, they were able to get the requirement waived.

Has anyone actually read this law? I could be googling the wrong things, but I can't find anything about it. I remember it being referred to during our coaching searches, but have never seen the actual law.
