I missed it. Were there actually kids in it? Anyone have a pic of the card stunts?

I don't know how they did it, but despite the rest of the north endzone being largely empty, Block I was full all the way to the top, and they were very well organized. It was plainly way better than what's happened in opening games in the recent past. Whoever got them organized should really get a pat on the back.

Also, since I was in control of the parabolic dish on the sideline for BTN, I tried to capture as much Block-I sounds as possible. They were LOUD.

Actually pulled in students from both sides into the top of the middle at halftime. Despite that they did a good job and reacted loudly whenever they were on the scoreboard.

Yeah at halftime they shut down the middle section of Block so they can pass out cards, then tell everyone to move down and in and to sit on a number.

I was actually suprised at how many kids were in Block yesterday considering the heat and the quality of opponent, hopefully they will keep comin to games.

Thanks

Yes, the block heads (I'm not one of them) tell everyone to come down and center to do the card stunts. They do a great job organizing that. Only about 30 kids were at the informational meeting and everything went smoothly anyway.

Can I get a description of what went down. I didn't see it on tv, but I was in and out all day. I love Illini- nation.

When the timeclock had hands, Block I actually captured the attention of the fans. Now, with that scoreboard, ribbon boards and replays shown constantly, Block I has competition for attention and I suspect students are less enthusiastic about holding up colored cards because fewer are watching.

I just wanted to chime in as well. I thought Block I was fantastic on Saturday. The 2nd half was ugly and there was a general feeling of "here we go again" with a lot of fans sitting on their hands, but the Block I section was in to the game and very loud for only being half full.

Somebody remind me - what was the reason for the Union Jack? It seemed to fit at the time.
