Former college basketball coaches Bruce Pearl and Seth Greenberg have joined ESPN as men’s college basketball analysts and ESPN’s Jalen Rose will be added to the college basketball commentator team, it was announced today by Mark Gross, ESPN Senior Vice President and Executive Producer, Production. Pearl and Greenberg will each serve as studio analysts throughout the season and will call select games from various conferences. Rose will be a featured analyst on the weekly College GameDay as well as other college basketball studio programming, and will work as a game analyst for a series of matchups. Additionally, all three will contribute college basketball commentary to ESPN Radio, ESPN.com and other ESPN outlets.

Bruce Pearl on ESPN? All the more reason to use my mute button.

And in other news, ESPN has decided to kick Illini fans' dogs, sleep with their spouses, and generally cr@p on all things Illini.

I'm not sure whether it would be better to assign Pearl an Illini game in CU so fans could let him have it in person or just forbid him from ever setting foot in CU again.

Absolutely no way ESPN lets Bruce get close to Champaign. Although that would be awesome.

I bet they keep him away from the B1G completely.

Just goes to show that ESPN is more willing to side with "characters" regardless of whether they have issues or not. And people wonder why Disney is hated. ESPN would never pulled this crap before they were absorbed by Mickey.

Put Pearl and Vitale together for a packed house game at the Hall and see what happens.

Blood guts and gore! Or maybe just kill their audio feed and watch them die a slow death when the nonsense spewed from their idiotic mouths can't be heard by anyone! BWA! HA! HA!

I never knew Disney was "hated". As for the ESPN on air personalities, they've hired plenty of scumbags and apparently enough people are OK with it, that they keep doing it. I'll never watch Rose, I'll never watch Knight, I have seen Holtz (tough to miss on a Saturday), but if I could photoshop him out, I would. Pearl has a high Q rating and is engaging to those that don't know or care that he is a piece of crap. Most people don't care.

Both Rose and Knight are great. And if Pearl is good too, then I'll appreciate him for that. But if you're ESPN, what makes you think this guy won't screw you over like he has every other employer in his life? I don't know is it's even possible to have an ESPN analyst scandal, but if it's possible, you can bet it's coming.

I haven't listened to Knight all that much, but my experience has been that he is absolutely terrible as a color commentator. He is very slow to contribute, isn't terribly quick verbally, and often gets hung up on trivial stuff.

Jalen Rose was born to do college basketball color commentary.

If he doesn't screw up away from ESPN and get himself canned, he'll do great.

With Mr and Mrs Gordon as co-sideline reporters?

I was only joking yesterday when I said that Bruce Pearl was going to go on The Herd and question Tim Beckman's ethics with regard to the whole PSU media farce. And now.....I was close. Wow.

Knight would be the kind of guy you'd want to sit around and talk basketball strategy with, not the kind you want doing color on a game. His knowledge certainly isn't in question. It's just a matter of presenting it.

Except for the few times I get to see my teams on ESPN, I've all but stopped watching ESPN. Haven't watched a full Sportscenter in years.

I am admitted ESPN basher with few exceptions. I do watch games there, I do like PTI and I do like Outside the Lines although both PTI and OTL I rarely watch, but listen to on podcast. I find their website to be overwhelmeing and their radio network spends so much time on commercials and promoting upcoming guests that the content is tough to find.

Naw, just use your mute button. Silence is better than mindless babble, and far better than an encounter with an oncoming bus.

A new facebook group " Bruce Pearl should never work at ESPN " has been formed that has some links to some excellent articles about Satan.
