Indiana didn't garner any Big Ten Player of the Week honors, so there's that.

Beckman and Urban Meyer have quite the lineage, dating all the way back to college. Opted not to follow Meyer to Utah.

Beckman: Considers Urban Meyer a close friend. Doesn't talk much to him now that they're rivals. Will meet with him on the field.

Beckman: OSU has lot of the same players he played in a close loss to OSU at Toledo last year.

Here's a fun caller.

Caller asks Loren Tate to disclose which coaches John Supinie was talking about in last week's "dysfunctional" article.

Neither Beckman nor Barnhart have observed any problems between the coaches. Supinie and Tate have both heard the same rumor from the same person who is not a first hand observer. So clearly, someone is doing quite a bit of talking but not the coaches themselves. Someone "connected" to the program has been bagging on Beckman for quite some time now and has likely been the source for Klee, Supinie and many of the other reporters. I sure would like to know who feels so compelled to bag on Beckman. Is there a disgruntled Zook holdover somewhere in the football program with a vendetta?

Meant to say neither Tate nor Barnhart.

This is what I've been saying since all these "rumors" came out. I didn't realize Zook had such power over people to get them so faithful to him.

Or it might be someone who didn't hit it off with Beckman or lost power/authority with the regime change. Either way, the Tate response to that question certainly suggests there is someone with a negative agenda, someone connected to the football program. Someone in the athletic department needs to figure out who is on this sabotage mission and fire their sorry a$$.

John Supinie on the Tay and J Show.

Supinie is asked about his "dysfunctional" article at the 9:30 mark-

Supinie sticks with the story that there is conflict with a couple of the assistant coaches. But he also says that we should have known this was going to be a rebuilding job. Zook's last two classes were very weak and that leaves a big hole in the middle of the roster. Supinie thinks that VK knew it was going to be an uphill struggle because of the recruiting problems and got out when the going was good. Didn't think that VK wanted to stay, then when he and Beckman didn't hit it off it was a good excuse to leave.

Two problems: bad recruiting (worse that most realized) but there is also a complete failure of Beckman to show any improvement or sign of progress.

VK was gone as I said and you and I both know he was smart enough to see something like this coming with the recruiting problems. The TB thing gave VK the perfect excuse and then people wouldn't come to find that he was already locked in with Fedora.

Supinie is spot on about the middle of this roster. Let's take a look at the sophomore and junior classes.

Soph (RS-Fr) contributors:

Karras, Ferguson, Zalewski, Heitz, Davis, Howe, O'Toole, Immekus, Duvernois, Teitsma, Thomas, Cvijanovic, Young

Juniors (RS-So) contributors:

Hull, Millines, Lankford, Brown, Wilson, Harris, Spence, Sheelhaase, Bates

Sophomore (RS-Fr) class is 13 contributors out of a total class of 23. Not bad for a young class just in their 2nd year. Except when you look closely you realize that 2 of these guys are kickers. So now it's 11 of 23. Then look closer and one is a punter and another is the back up QB. So now we are really at 9 of the 23. I would say that Heitz, Cvijanovic, Karras, Howe and Teitsma SHOULD BE back ups but are thrown to the wolves due to a lack of depth. So really 4 of the 23 are making a real positive impact. Ferguson, Davis, Thomas and Young

Juniors: 8 of the 22. This is their 3rd year and 8 of the 22. And I'm including Scheelhaase and Spence to make it look better. So really 6 of the 22 in their 3rd year are making an impact.

So, yeah...I'd say Supinie is pretty spot on with his statement of the middle of the roster being not up to standards.

I might be missing people because I did this pretty quickly. But it's just a quick review.

Or it might be someone who has observed that the staff really is disfunctional and is telling the truth. Why assume that such a report could only be the product of a disgruntled vendetta? Sounds frighteningly like what the WFF's used to say in response to honest criticism a few years back.
