If we lose tomorrow and Nebraska wins, how will the tournament be seeded, since we did not play Nebraska during the regular season.

Nebraska would be the 1 due to record vs common opponents in B1G play (NEB 13-5, ILL 12-6)

The last 2 spots in the Big Ten tournament have been settled now also, as PSU swept Maryland to knock them out of contention. Ohio State now the 7 seed, PSU the 8 seed.

What do we need to do to make sure we are in the NCAA postseason? Or are we already in? Obviously winning the BTT gets us in. But our RPI was 51 before last nights game. Does a win today get us in for sure?

I think the general consensus is they need to win the BTT still to get in. They’d probably be on the bubble outside looking in - in consideration but well far from a lock.

They don’t have big wins out of conference and didn’t play Nebraska (the only other big ten team consistently in projections). Almost all the projections have 1-2 big ten teams max in.

Post-game prognosticators on BTN last night said we're now IN (with an At Large birth) with the regular season title in our pocket and the end-of-season string of WINS, including these two strong road wins in West Lafayette. Further, NCAA.com has us as a #3 seed in Terre Haute. This post was by three experts --- with a combined 60 years of NCAA baseball experience --- predicting the entire 64-team field one day ago. Additional details below:

LAST FOUR IN: UCF, Northeastern, Utah, Cincinnati

FIRST FOUR OUT: Maryland, James Madison, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss

We beat Indiana State recently after losing to them earlier in the season.

They have us as a 3 seed right now - which is the same seed as the last 4 in on the same website. If we don’t win the BTT and neither does Nebraska - you have a bid thief into the mix. I will give you off my own comment it seems if they lose they will be squarely on the bubble and not necessarily out.

If we drop the opening 2 games or go 1-2 or something, think we’ll be on the outside looking in. I’d love to be completely wrong.

Joe lunardi has 20+ years of experience predicting the field too on the basketball side…not trying to start an argument but that doesn’t make you good at predicting a field.
