Week 13 games discussion thread

Here's the rundown of the other Big Ten games, plus selected matchups in Week 13. Feel free to add/discuss any other games of interest.

If Indiana beats Purdue & Minnesota beats MSU, the B1G will only have 5 bowl-eligible teams. Neat!

Hey guys. Been a while so I thought I would pop in and say hello and Happy Thanksgiving. I know its been a rough year for Illinois football but I still think it was a good coaching hire and given a little time he will get it going. Arkansas State has this week off but will play MTSU for the conference title on December 1. When we win

we will be 9-3 and likely headed for the Liberty Bowl. Wont be very long at all until the Illini go bowling every year. Keep the faith!! ASU fans are the masters of longtime suffering in football...until recently. It will turn.

Let's hope this bites Notre Dame. I don't want to be stuck rooting for an SEC team in the championship game.

Washington vs. WSU going to overtime 28-28. UW is a lot better this year, but this rivalry game often goes counter to expectations.

WSU wins! Picked off a UW pass in overtime, ran it back 60 yards, got a 1st down and kicked a FG. I didn't realize that if there is a turnover in OT the team that gets the ball can proceed with a scoring drive of their own. If WSU misses the FG, they still get possession on the UW 25 for a shot of their own.

Remember when WSU inhaled for most this season? Remember when Mike Leach was placed under investigation for player abuse. Leach might just work out for WSU (MIGHT, fingers crossed), but I can certainly see why Thomas didn't want to take on the baggage that came with Leach. If Leach can succeed anywhere it is probably someplace FAR removed from the media spotlight like Washington State University.

If we are going to play the "what if" game, the main alternative to Beckman was to hire a good coordinator. Focusing exclusively on proven head coaches definitely limited the field.

What are you talking about? Once the DL was tackled short on the return, that simply ended the huskie possession. They brought the ball back to the same 25 that the Huskies had started from. Leach got one first down from there (passing). Then kick. Win.

If had missed, then on to 2OT. And each team would've been guaranteed another possession.

I'm not sure what he was saying. No team can have TWO possessions in ONE overtime.

Okay. I was watching on game tracker and they had WSU taking over at the end of a 60 yard return. No wonder I had never seen that before.

I can understand MT's reluctance with regards to Leach, but the guy can coach. Loose cannon to the max. But it would have been never a dull moment if he had come to IL.

Trust me, no one at OSU is going to complain because they only won by 5. And no one in Ann Arbor is going to take solace in keeping the game close. Michigan lost to tOSU. Again.

Hoke won a game when tOSU was in transition, but now it is back to what it has been for the past decade. One of the key reasons Michigan fired Carr was that he couldn't beat tOSU. Same old, same old.
